The G-techniq Crystal Serum with two coats of exov3 really has done the trick Alan. Water deposits can be problematic, but SB3's Destroy - water deposit remover revives the ceramic really well. That with top ups of G-techniq C2 really help with the hydrophobicity.

As for fuel, I only ever put in higher octane rated petrol. Apparently these SVO engines can run a bit rough on E10. Might be more expensive, but I factored that in when I bought the car.
For both the AJ133 (V8) and AJ126 (V6) the specified minimum RON is 95 and the specified maximum ethanol content is 10%.
The tune makes no difference, the factory tune on the AJ133 SC ranges all the way from 450 PS to 600 PS.
Years ago I used to put 100 RON E10 in my tuned F-Type V6 and although it felt like it gave it a little power boost it also hiccupped from time to time, so I went back to straight 98 RON.
Better to stick with premium high RON zero ethanol petrol (98 RON here in Oz, I believe 99 RON over in Blighty) for the AJ133 and AJ126.

I was wondering if the Jag's V8 would have multiple factory maps or such to take advantage of the higher compression ration possible with the higher RON? It makes no difference with my car when on the factory map, but a remap does take advantage of higher RON, although not by much really unless you can find 108 RON lol

I still use Esso 99 for the lower ethanol and supposed extra cleaning properties. I definitely get better economy out of it as well, which I'm hoping somewhat helps negate the extra pence per litre.

Thanks, I'll need to look into that stuff as my paintwork gets brutalised every week.

I run the XKR (510HP) on Esso Synergy Supreme+ 99 as it's zero ethanol, for a couple of reasons. 1, I hardly ever use the car so it sits with unused fuel for weeks, if not months and supposedly ethanol fuels oxidise faster and "go off" quicker than non-ethanol fuel. 2, The car "feels" better when running higher octane fuels, just smoother. Maybe a placebo affect, I don't know. On the other hand, the F-Pace 3.0 supercharged (380HP) gets any old rubbish supermarket fuel, it drives fine on this.

If you hardly do any miles in the XKR, there's little point in putting anything but the best fuel you can buy in it.(y)

Ah that's right, you get 0% ethanol in your Esso 99 RON, but up here we get screwed over as usual and there's still 5% in it.

If Esso, BP or Shell sold 99 over here in 'Norn Irn' I'd be using that all the time. 97 is the best I can find at the moment locally though.

We do have a local supplier; Solo, but I'm not keen on using their juice as I've no idea of their quality controls.

Car booked in for service - which I've already paid for courtesy of taking out a service plan with XFSv3.

so that happens on the 9th Feb due to my being away offshore again.

Also had to get an MOT booked - and due to problems over here - I've managed to get one for next week - 28th.

Good news is that Charles Hurst Jaguar over here in Belfast have offered to check headlight alignment and brake pipes etc before going to the MOT centre.

Happy days.

What I wasn't so happy with was them saying that I needed the spark plugs changing - fair enough - but at ÂŁ170!!!! Think I'll source my own.

Can anyone confirm which plugs should be used? I'm getting NGK at the moment.

If that’s six sparkies, supply and FIT, more than likely iridium wans at that…..lotsa time involved in doing six, is there not…? Or is it 8 spark plug fings…?

Isn't the change interval 6 years/96,000 miles?
Yes. This is what they're saying is required, even though the car is only 5 yrs old and done a smidge over 40k miles.

My XFR is 8 years old, but only 43,000 miles. I've mentioned plugs to the Jaguar dealer(last years service) and to Jaguar Specialist (this years service), and they don't think it is needed. I dont believe Plugs age, so I think 96,000 makes more sense. My engine doesn't seem to have any issues.

Interesting, as when I spoke to Sturgess and E&E they both said I should get them done regardless as it will affect the Approved Used Warranty, as technically you're in breach of the terms by not following the manufacturer's servicing schedule.

Pretty darn (pronounced: very) sure that the standard plugs are just standard NGK plugs.. but a member on another forum.. mentioned being told of 'potential' issues with his warranty if the plugs weren't provided in a 'Jaguar' box.. my guess would be dealer scaremongering to scare people/increase revenue...

The XFR and XJR 575 take NGK Iridium spark plugs ILKAR7C10.
Heat range 7 model # 94940.
Best plugs by far for this engine don't even think about anything else!
These will last for well over 100,000 miles with zero problems but of course warranty may be an issue.
From all reports DIY is doable but the rear two plugs can be a right royal PITA to get at and JLR "recommend" some rather expensive special tools.
