Thanks Mark, will contact seller & cancel order.
Beter safe than sorry.
Will go down the used route then & get the trim, camera & interconnecting cable.

Don't forget you also need a new rear chrome trim and the little weather shield for the camera.

He won't be able to answer youAlan has he was banned for sending threatening messages to another member.

Off topic but didn't realise David had been banned, that is a real shame as he was a fountain of knowledge and has helped me out a lot.
I don't know the ins and outs of why he was banned but can only hope it is not a permanent ban?
I will be seeing him in a week or two as he is helping me fit my interior carpet and has offered me a set of seat belts, as I say hope the ban is not permanent whatever the indiscretion.

Ok, thanks for the info as I was unaware of this &, was just trying to find out what & how it was set up.

Sadly, there's no way back after this kind of behaviour.
That is a shame, after having the pleasure of meeting David I can honestly say that he is a genuine guy with a love of all things XF.

Has anyone fitted this & if so is it a reasonable solution?

The same website answers with this dubious FAQ:

"Yes, this camera fit to Jaguar XF even if the car did not come with reverse camera.

It will replace the number plate lampshade and use a RCA jack to output video to existing monitor.

One problem you need to notice is the output jack of our camera is RCA, so the monitor which will work with this camera should also come with RCA jack. - See more at: http://www.smartauto24.com/reverse-camera-for-jaguar-xj-xf-902#sthash.L8LpOVWc.dpuf"

Hi Ivanov, I will not be connecting it to the main screen, but a small secondary one which is part of an in car recording system, just seeing if anyone had had any experience as to image quality.

No question of his knowledge and love of cars but I can only go by his correspondence with myself that was so far from being acceptable I couldn't just put it down to a bad day or a misunderstanding and to be honest other have said it's not the first time so I am not losing any sleep over it.... as you say a real shame though, when I first joined up pretty much most of the things I was searching for led to his username and I spent ages reading his posts...

I had a similar type of camera on my 350, an RCA to a screen and a wire to the reverse light for power when reverse was engaged. I am pretty sure if you knew enough about electronics you could make this work on the oem screen but could be a huge pain in the a$$

Mine is still under warranty so will be leaving it stand alone for now, have fitted a few over the years.
Best one I did was on my old RX8 where I replaced the interior mirror with one that became the screen on activating reverse, mounted the camera in the same sort of place it is on the XF.
Worked brilliantly, total cost ÂŁ100 including cabling & additional fused supply.

I drove a Sprinter van when we moved house that had that. Very good idea and seems easy to install.

Hi, so I have a MY10 XF and it has now gone past the warranty stage so I am happy to add a few things that have bugged me in their absence. I have retrofitted headlight washers with genuine jag parts and I wanted to add the camera. as i was going to have to replace the chrome i thought now was a good time to facelift the rear of the car so fitted the new rear clusters really simple job actually BUT the one thing i wanted to fit I am now very confused about! the CAMERA. I have purchased a new chrome finished with camera and its respective short loom - however I do not see where this plugs in on the main boot loom - can someone advise? thanks

The chances are the loom you have in the car doesn't have the connection you need.

The short loom connects the camera to the loom which goes through the gates on the boot lid to car then that loom connects to the downstream loom behind the trim panel on the right hand side of the boot.

The retrofit of the camera has been discussed before and Sunday Club also tried the mod. We got a camera hooked up but could not get it enabled in the head unit.

I think it is possible but needs a tech with the ability to modify the cars CFF files and an additional loom connection.

Most people have given up.

It is possible as I added it to my car. But don't expect it to work just by plugging in the camera. You need to visit a Jaguar independent with Autologic. They can download car CCF (car configuration file) and forward it to Autologic, so their techs can customise CCF to enable camera to work. This was on a MY11 Premium Luxury high spec car XFS/adaptive dynamics/aero pack/sports pack/B&O etc.

Retrofitted front parking sensors and front/rear parking sensor module. This required programming same way.

Cost me 50 pounds for programming, but well worth it.

ÂŁ50 is not bad at all :)
