Saoirse...many thanks for the info i was wondering that it happens on my Evo X i just got an aftermarket camera then plug in into the nav system and works good no issues at all, sys detected when in reverse.

Now I ask the dealer I ask also Jaguar Usa they told me that warranty can be voided if I do that and I told them well I want the dealer to make it because I saw many information on the web that can be possible and also I think if I used oem Jaguar parts why warrranty can be void and ask with a supervisor then with a manager...it was my lucky day i think because the manager told me well I think the dealer can do this with no problem so he open a case number then I'm waiting for that they said finally.

Now... Saoirse, i saw my connector and i dont have the plug for the camera or even the loom you said... by enay chance you have pictures of before and after the mod? I read about substantial changes on 2012 XF.

i must admit to not being up on pre 2011 cars, but the loom on post cars is located just under the rear boot skin, remove the felt/cardboard large cover, (pop clips) and the loom runs from the rear chrome strip under the boot skin, and via a grommet down to the left hand side of the cars wing, just behind the rear light,(opposite side to the fuel flap) thats where you should find the connection, it has 2 block connectors.
dealers are just that...ie they only deal in the cars, they dont get there hands dirty like a good indipendant specialist will, buy a parts/maintenence CD from ebay for a few $ it will show the route and part you need.
regards.

Yesterday we took out the trim around the boot fuse box on Tonys car and found the coaxial plug for the camera. We are assuming then that its the whole boot loom which needs replacing along with the chrome trim.

when you say whole boot loom mark, i can only tell ou that the loom you require is about 6 feet long, quite thin, and comprises of what looks like 2 seperate wires, 1 of which is like an optical cable. its nothing to do with the chrome strip number plate bulb loom, or lights etc, its a dedicated loom for the camera.

did you mean you found the coaxial plug that the camera loom would plug into? sounds right, just source the parts and hey presto.
setting up the camera is fiddly, you need to keep checking that the view on the screen is ok, and not pointing down to far, but its trial and error. i used auto trim tape to overcome any angle issues.

That's great if you can buy just that part. We looked in my boot and its a loom that's wrapped with the boot loom, hence the comment.

Hi Saoirse, could you let me know the camera cable to main loom part number please, I have just purchased a new un-programmed camera.
Do you also know what had to be done to programme the canera to the car to allow it to integrate into the reversing sequence?
I realise that the boot trim has to be cut to allow the camera to protrude, but think it may be easier than trying to get a second hand one, but will keep looking.

Alan,

These are the cables for the pre-facelift. Not had the boot trim off on a facelift model so unsure if the cables are already there. I do know what I'm looking for though.

How many pins does the camera plug have? If it's an 8 pin connector it's not for a classic. This needs a 4 pin (only 3 used) plus a coax connector. Then it needs enabling in software. Stratstone wouldn't touch Tonys.

Hi Mark, this is the camera,

It does show the plug & was stated as fitting the pre facelift.

Cheers Mark,
Out of interest is it not practical to do this, or is the only route gettin a used programmed camera, if that is the case is the camera once programmed the triger to the car being able to accept it?
If so could someone who has the same camera as in link have the new one dropped in as an alternative & ask jag why it is not working, could they then programme it to function?
I have found 3 different suppliers selling this at various prices, whats the point if they cannot be programmed?
Is it just a con?

We borrowed the cables I showed you, installed them in Tonys car, backed mine up to his and connected my camera. The screen in his car didn't accept the camera. He went up to Stratstone and they wouldn't enable it as they were worried about messing up the cars software.

So at the moment it's a no go.

The camera shown isn't for our cars.

Thanks Mark, will contact seller & cancel order.
Beter safe than sorry.
Will go down the used route then & get the trim, camera & interconnecting cable.

I was told that I would have to sign a disclaimer for them to tell the
car it had a camera when it came from the factory without one.
basically they thought they would have to use the vin of a car that had a camera x works and
that it might cause problems.
Basically never having done one before they were in the dark as to what to do!
