You've got to remember that when this system was originally designed and made, things have moved on significantly in technology. I dare say in a few more years there will be a universal tyre valve available that can be programmed remotely to retrofit on an any car.

An update......of incompatibilities

One of the tyres on the XFS to which I'd fitted the 3rd party TPMS sensors mention in my post above, was very slowly losing air pressure. The tyre garage suspected the valve stem as no other leak could be found. He said it likely just needs a new valve stem and seals. Once he'd removed the tyre and the sensor it was clearly evident the 3rd party make are non-standard, none of the OEM manufactured valve stems and seals will fit, ans as far he the tyre fitter was concerned, he has no listing for the same parts that he could order. Rather than replace the sensor, he managed to cobble together enough parts that will hopefully hold air.

So, should you buy these sensors it may be prudent to buy spare stems and seals too, available in silver and black.

What, disable a system that's very useful for driver information, could prevent an accident and is also a legal requirement to have fitted and working?

how about a TPMS spoofing box that you can get from the internet ?
How ingenious is that? Brilliant. I'm off to eBay now to get a couple.

I couldn't actually find one that works on Jaguars! So a moot point from new member Kellogs in any case! If there was one listed it'd possibly not work on UK cars anyway as there's several operating frequencies depending on country.

Find it strange, there are websites selling blank sensors with correct frequency and when bought, they will program them to make and model year. Install will cost extra ÂŁÂŁ and ready to go, jag will pick them up after 10-15mins of drive. Around ~ÂŁ140 for set of 4, delivered.

At the same time a lot of tyre garages offering the same thing, which all in all will come cheaper including install

The Jaguar system does't need programming for the sensors, as it "pings" each wheel in turn and listens for the answer. By this method a replaced sensor or swapped round wheels are automatically registered. I have a TPMS test unit and can manually test the sensors in wheels, the Jaguar system is very simple.

Ok so what was the problem in finding ones?

And I'm not talking about programming jaguar system, but sensors themselves

There wasn't a problem, was there? A new member just resurrected a 3 year old thread with a silly option which when I had a quick look, wasn't actually an option as I didn't find such a unit offered for Jaguars. Not that I was looking very hard as it's a very daft idea to go that route.

Before posting this, I searched for TPMS and they might appear to be more trouble than they are worth.

Anyway, a friend popped over with a hand held TPMS reader and confirmed my valves are not TPMS.

Can TPMS be turned off and on in SDD?

If it is SDD controllable, how can I tell if my car has the hardware for it?

Thanks
you can't switch it off as far as I'm aware

Well, you said earlier something else?

I couldn't actually find one that works on Jaguars!

or is it me?

Wasn't me wanted one, I didn't suggest one, I wasn't even aware they're a thing, until it was said by the new member! But then a quick Google showed it's probably not a thing, at least not a Jaguar thing as I didn't find one.

Ok so what was the problem in finding ones?
I didn't find one, or any! And if they do exist, don't use one! Sheesh!
