Hi,
Another odd fault occurred yesterday. Car is an early (2011) facelift XF Premium Luxury with keyless entry. I was sat stationary outside our house having just got home after a journey while my wife jumped out to open the gate and the message "Smart key not found, insert key in slot" came up on the dash. The key was in my pocket as usual so shouldn't have been out of range, and my wife didn't have a key on her either (the spare was in the house!). I put the key in the slot but the message remained. The car stayed running and I was able to park on the drive as normal, just with that message on the display. When I got out of the car I couldn't lock it with the door buttons, but the lock button on the remote worked fine! I though the key battery might be low so I tried unlocking/locking from a distance - also fine. I then tried keyless entry again - worked fine. I had to get the baby to bed so couldn't fiddle any more, but this morning everything was fine again including keyless entry, start and lock!
I'll change the battery in the key just in case, but any ideas why it would behave like this? My extended warranty expires in a few months time so I want to make sure I'm not storing up problems.
Thanks,
Tim
