The photographer did a good job at hiding some of the more minor scuffs, marks and colour fade. Nothing I can't handle though with a good wash, respray, cut, polish, and ceramic coat. Just needs some elbow grease and a lot of time!

Strangely seems the same car..... which has scuffs and minor body damage which would require the work you said it would 🤔. And rusty passenger seat runners. If the pics are the exact same, how is this not your car?

Okay, so it's pretty much confirmed. I have a leak somewhere in that passenger footwell.
I'm going to assume it's from the rain, as there wasn't that much water this morning, and now there is (after a few showers came through).
So I'm thinking it's a drainage hole issue from the passenger side engine bay bulkhead. It was completely covered in leaves, but more importantly, there's a chunk of dirt as well (pic attached). I'm assuming it can't drain the water and it's somehow coming through the bulkhead and pooling in the footwell. The driver side only had leaves and looks clear now, no issues with dampness.

Also checked the door, no issues completely dry.

I can't really get in there to clean out, but thinking I'll water blast it out.

Thoughts?

 

Ahh you're right, I didn't notice that part of the car, had the seat all the way back so it was covered.
I think I found the culprit, when I put in my hand on the floor (outside of the mat) it was damp. I thought I had some sort of leak. Nothing I could smell from it though. Looked under the chair and apart from a lot of pens being in places they shouldn't be, I found this. A chalk marker, which is consistent with some white almost paint within the interior, that I've been able to take off.

I also found a single piece of automotive glass, a tell tale sign the car was broken into. Confirmed as well by the different window glass. (Note the pens in the rail too).

 

They're lovely rare cars and this wasn't overpriced. None of the damage is serious, from the pictures, and I'm sure all can be sorted. The front splitter damage may be a head scratch though, that part is silly expensive from Jaguar.

I can do the spray myself, I just need the paint matched.

The front splitter, is actually not the original anyway. The original must have been broken by one of the first two owners (I'm now the fourth), and they replaced it with a cheap fibreglass with cheap carbon fibre pattern on it.
Had a look around to see where to replace this, but I dare not ask JLR for one!

I'd certainly recommend these for paint: Touch Up Paint Factory/Chipex (same company I believe).

I'll reach out to some suppliers in China and see what they can fashion up instead. There are RS kits you can buy so they already have the moulds, just need to get that one part in a glossy carbon fibre and it wouldn't cost £1,800 - €2,900 plus post for sure.

Ah well maybe I'll just drive it like this for a while, when I really want to go for the genuine part later.

 

I'd get it cosmetically fixed then put a gloss carbon wrap on it. You'll only bash it again.

 

That's not a bad idea at all! Now I'll just need to learn how to wrap, I'm horrible at it. Tried it before and just ended up spray painting, was easier.

 

Just a thought. Are the Sportbrake grilles tha same as saloon ones? If not, maybe China only made the saloon ones. Maybe @ChrisCh can help.

 

A mod, Alex, on the other forum had a similar problem with his XFR. Careful though, he is rather touchy at times.

I use an electricians cable pulling wire thingie. Well actually it's plastic. And an airline, but the latter usually means I need a shower after.

 

Congrats on the new car. That's got to have been the cheapest XFR-S ever sold in the UK!

Hopefully getting it back into fighting fit shape isn't too challenging!
