Is my car telling SDD it needs an update?

No idea what happened before I had the car, but come to think of it I tried connecting with v1.42 months ago, but the software was crashing when connecting to the car, so I wiped the laptop and used 1.38..
Does the car record it has seen a newer version so won't let me program using 1.38?
If so, any idea if there is a working 1.42 (or newer) I could use to just enable the mentioned features?
If you change date every time before connecting 138v, in this case it will be useless for you in future, because each time when you connect SDD to your car it recording to RJB and CJB last date of connection.

I have written several times not to use newer version SDD with old cracks, because any kind of cracks not work property with system , also the SDD doesn't likes to be installed on Virtual Machines, it needs Win7 or WinXP.

P.S. To be honest, I likes that a lot of people used "craked" SDD with cheap Mongoose cable copies, because first or last some modules and units will be corrupted and JLR dealers can't do nothing and only try to sell new modules ;) and no a huge numbers of people in the world who know and have skills how repair it

Not sure I understand the first bit.. I don't change any dates or anything when connecting?

I'm using proper win7, not a VM.
Every time when you connect SDD in Central and Rear Junction Box the system write date of changing data.

SDD also has it internal timer, each 7-14 days it's try to connect to central server for monitoring updates. There is possibility to off this function.

Forgot to ask what is MY of yours XF?

Ah OK, I see..

I've killed all update services etc. For SDD but my laptop doesn't have any internet connection anyway (its an older laptop I'm using just for this..)

My car is MY2012 - spent the weekend wiring up the camera which took a while as the car didn't have looms in already.. But as far as I can tell i need to use SDD to enable the camera.
Do you know how to edit CCF file?

I haven't looked in great detail but I assume that enabling the camera is one of the customer personalisation options - haven't actually seen the screen yet though as the software won't let me proceed due to the update message.. :)
As I remember the customer enable option in CCF: power fold mirror and one line of NAV and some minor parameters. For RVC as I remember needs "engineering access"

What's the difference, is engineering mode the "car configuration nmanagement - current vehicle car configuration modification" option in SDD?
In engineering mode all lines in CCF enable to edit.

Hmm.. so I was just thinking, when you first install SDD and enter the dealer details doesn't it give a 24 hour grace period before needing to go online to activate? - even without any crack?

If so, would it be feasible to do an install of the latest / a later version, then do the first run and make the mods in the first 24 hours of installing - without the need to butcher the software with some cracks? (But using the engineering code generator if needed)
In newer SDD version when you enters via softwaredownload you get the ASBUILD version CCF file, so you need make some changes in different lines, don't for get not to use clones of VCM w/o some hardware mods.

So I had time to play with the software a little tonight (not while connected to the car).
I ran the software download file to access engineer mode - put in my vin and looked at the car configuration window.
Seems that enabling the rear camera is a simple drop down change "rear camera present" from 'no' to 'yes' - then flash the configuration.
I'm assuming that when connected to the car all of the fields will populate with the current car config? (they were all undefined when disconnected).

Trying to figure out if I should pluck up the courage to try it or not... As I don't know of anywhere locally that can do flashing like this, but need some way to enable the camera.

Anyone know how the flashing works? - is the old config erased fully then entirely replaced, or just the changed bytes updated on the car?
(I'm trying to gauge how much carnage the fairly innocuous looking setting could do if the flash failed..)
In newer version after 140v the softwaredownload trick doesn't helps you :(
The vehicle must be connect to SDD when you enters VIN and you should ask some question like MY, fuel type, TV, TPMS, ect.

The CCF file cashes from vehicle to SDD...

Sorry, I would like to revive this posting. I have finally got my British Diags cable and SDD v130 and v138.

The software reads my XJ VIN and allows the full scan which takes quite a while, it is running on a VM Ware session and most of the time showing 100% CPU on the VM (which is another problem). It reads all the parts of the car and shows the green ticks etc but when I select the service function (using v130 to hopefully program a key) it seems to just loop back to the summary page again, am I going something wrong? Also I was under the impression it can program the TMPS function but I cannot seem to get anywhere is that in the service function as well? I had a very wasteful 45 mins this morning with it and got no where.
Firstly: you need install Win XP or WIN 7 directly w/o any VM machines.
Secondary: what cable have you got, check for viruses in drivers that comes with cable.

Ok problem then the software is only on a VM. The cable is an SP205. I will try again as did not think I was being very demanding of the software.

The SDD doesn't likes installed in VM.

About keys programming: the X250 is the last Jaguar model which possible to program this way new key. In all 2016MY models to programming new keys possible to program only with new KESSY module, from 2017MY only with online service in JLR dealer

Nice one if you can also code the tpms sensors to the car.
I can't understood how you want to program new sensors using SDD.

The process is full automatic, all you need just install new sensors.

Here is the explanations on Queen's English:

Tire Location and Identification TPMS:

The TPMS can identify the position of the wheels on the vehicle and assign a received tire pressure sensor identification to a specific position on the vehicle, for example front left, front right, rear left and rear right. This feature is required because of the different pressure targets and threshold that could exist between the front and rear tires.

The wheel location is performed automatically by the CJB using an 'auto-location' function. This function is fully automatic and requires no input from the driver. The CJB automatically re-learns the position of the wheels on the vehicle if the tire pressure sensors are replaced or the wheel positions on the vehicle are changed.

The TPMS software can automatically detect, under all operating conditions, the following:

one or more new tire pressure sensors have been fitted
one or more tire pressure sensors have stopped transmitting
CJB can reject identifications from tire pressure sensors which do not belong to the vehicle
two 'running' wheels on the vehicle have changed positions.
If a new tire pressure sensor is fitted on any 'running' wheel, the CJB can learn the new sensor identification automatically through the tire learn and location process.

The tire-learn and location process is ready to commence when the vehicle has been stationary or traveling at less than 12 mph (20 km/h) for 15 minutes. This is known as 'parking mode'. The learn/locate process requires the vehicle to be driven at speeds of more than 12 mph (20 km/h) for 15 minutes. If the vehicle speed reduces to below 12 mph (20 km/h), the learn process timer is suspended until the vehicle speed increases to more than 12 mph (20 km/h), after which time the timer is resumed. If the vehicle speed remains below 12 mph (20 km/h) for more than 15 minutes, the timer is set to zero and process starts again.

P.S. Hope this info helps you ends your journey with TPMS sensors... In SDD you could change working pressure for TPMS sensors...

Thank you. But that self-learning doesn't work on the XJ. Or to be more specific, it doesn't work on my XJ.

Hence the interest in non-dealer TPMS programming.
If I tell you if the TPMS modules, sensors and wiring are the same as on XF, the instruction for XJ the same. What MY of yours XJ.

4H231A159AE

They are from the time that Siemens VDO made them, before it went to Continental.
Unfortunately this is engineering number, not Ford one.

Is it possible to get photo of these sensors?

And send me yours VIN.

@08292: any idea if a 'used' key can be programmed to a new XF (2012) using the normal procedure in SDD or does it require a brand new key?
Sometimes it possible to be done, sometimes it's impossible. Before programming keys you need all keys to be with you, for this procedure is the best way to have VCM.

Mate, don't worry about it. My summers will be going on soon, and those should re-synchronise through the self-learn, and if they don't then I will get the dealer to look at them under warranty.

It was the winter set that haven't self-learnt. And I don't want to spend any more money on getting them sorted.
If yours car 2014MY the main problem that you try to install old shape sensors. Sometimes take off TPMS fuse for 5-10 minutes helps to solve this problem.
