@hamedhbb I have read my codes using SDD and can confirm that my code is P0488-72 - Mechanical failure - actuator is stuck open. How am I able to identify where this is located (which side on my vehicle), perhaps it's in the need of a clean or shall I just replace? Do you happen to know where I can find the part? When I started the car today it was running fine and no fluctuations and when it warmed up I was getting very unstable RPM. I don't know whether it's because I now know there's a problem but there's also a loss of power, it takes some time for the car to pick up speed for a short period of time.

p0488-72 is not listed in WM. however listed DTC close to that are all related to inferred faults. This means above-mentioned point regarding throttle body makes sense. A google search shows it is related to “A” that right hand one when sat in driver’s seat.
actuator has 4screws, the popes out. Once out you could push the arm manually and test it. Alternatively, if you unplug the EGR actuator and disconnect EGR tubes that goes to throttle body, you should see any gas coming out of egr output port.
throttle is the easiest to check though. It is on front top of engine and if you remove the right angle box in front of it, you could visually check if it is clogged.

Since I've had my Jaguar XF V6D I've had the 'DPF Full See Handbook' message pop-up now and then. I take it for a long drive and it clears. However, I have noticed after this message appears the RPM cannot stay stable between 2K and 3K RPM.

I've had a reduced performance message once in the car and it was displaying the exact symptoms, a very unstable RPM between the aforementioned RPM range.

Now my question is, the below code was thrown after about 5 minutes of driving with the fluctuations (it's like you're stepping on and off the accelerator, it fluctuates about 300-400 RPM.

The DPF soot levels are being read as extremely high and the Jag indy did leak tests and sensor tests with no fault found, however I had cleared the below fault code before I took it to him as it only showed up once.

What could be causing this code, is this because of a blocked DPF or is this the code that is causing the DPF to block? I have access to read sensor values but honestly, I'm a noob with cars, I have just learnt some basic things from my dad and YouTube (I work in IT).

P0488 - Exhaust gas recirculation throttle position control range/performance.

I am now wondering whether it would be worth getting an EGR clean with a carbon cleaning machine?

I had this error but not similar symptoms. Mine didn’t respond to throttle for a second when engine was cold. Until this error came up and everything was fine. I plotted the EGR position-command vs EGR position-actual. One of the EGR actuators. Clearly actual position didn’t follow the command. I cleaned the sensor inside the actuator and it was fine for a few days. Eventually replaced the actuator without removing the whole EGR. If anyone has touched it in the past, it is possible to install it in a wrong way.
An stuck open EGR could potentially accelerate DPF blockage.
anyway the code you getting is referring to this part:

You want another 2 digits to say if it is Left or Right one.

if the error reaper straight away after you clear the code, it is related to electronics. Otherwise it could be mechanical or electrical. It could have stuck open mechanically. The only wired thing is that EGR is normally close and if you unplug the wire going to this motor, it should be shut and engine works fine with an engine check light on.

Excellent, many thanks for your input. I’ll take a look at my iCarsoft device and plot the figures. My SDD cable should be here today so I should be able to get some more info on the fault code.
