Since I've had my Jaguar XF V6D I've had the 'DPF Full See Handbook' message pop-up now and then. I take it for a long drive and it clears. However, I have noticed after this message appears the RPM cannot stay stable between 2K and 3K RPM.
I've had a reduced performance message once in the car and it was displaying the exact symptoms, a very unstable RPM between the aforementioned RPM range.
Now my question is, the below code was thrown after about 5 minutes of driving with the fluctuations (it's like you're stepping on and off the accelerator, it fluctuates about 300-400 RPM.
The DPF soot levels are being read as extremely high and the Jag indy did leak tests and sensor tests with no fault found, however I had cleared the below fault code before I took it to him as it only showed up once.
What could be causing this code, is this because of a blocked DPF or is this the code that is causing the DPF to block? I have access to read sensor values but honestly, I'm a noob with cars, I have just learnt some basic things from my dad and YouTube (I work in IT).
P0488 - Exhaust gas recirculation throttle position control range/performance.
I am now wondering whether it would be worth getting an EGR clean with a carbon cleaning machine?
Any advice on where to go next?
