You'd think she could at least be clever enough to use a different email address...

Yes...but your OP hinted at a scam....had you already checked out the email address or was there something in the wording of the listing which caught your eye/made you suspicious....To my uneducated eye the second ad looked suspicious because the car had been photographed in a car park...but the first was looked ok...photo on drive of residential property...age mileage of car more in keeping with an eBay advert as well.

Cheers...so it's to do with diverting buyers away from eBay and Auto-trader to complete the transaction....the seller specifically states in the listing to contact them directly...rather go through the normal transaction process on the site

I take your point Tony earlier in the day the car description was simply

"A Nice Car"

This in its self raised suspicions. Not the best way to sell a car but later in the day a description has been added which makes it less suspicious. Further photos have also been added to the original ad. I watch this with interest.

The other two ads as you can see are dodgy. I now reserve judgment on the first

Hello there,

I am glad to hear that you are interested to buy my 2012 Jaguar XF S Portfolio 3.0 V6 Diesel !
Although I am registered in the UK,i recently moved to Cadiz, Spain (where my family is from) and the car is being shipped from here. I want to sell it in UK due to the fact that it's an UK version (right handed),it meets all UK standards.I bought this car from UK and It still has UK registration, so you won't have to pay any import and insurance fees. The car meets all United Kingdom guidelines so there will be no problem regarding UK Customs policy on receiving the car.The car is in perfect condition, the bodywork is immaculate,no scratches, dents or hidden defects as well as the interior in excellent non-smoking condition , never been implied in any accident and it is as advertised. The car comes with log book, HPI cleared, No finance. You will get from me the keys and all documents to register the car in your name.If the car is not how i described it, i will offer a full refund. It will be insured during transportation and will be delivered at your address in maximum 10 days. Final price is GBP 8,400 (the price includes shipping and insurance fees). The price is low because the car is right hand drive in a country where all cars are left hand drive so in Spain is very difficult to drive this type of vehicle and nobody wants to buy it here in Spain.Instead of keeping it in garage (during this economical crisis), I decided to sell it to someone back in the UK for a really attractive price.
I want to take this opportunity to assure you that this deal is 100% legitimate, the deal will be manage by a well known company,in this way both buyer and seller are 100% covered during the steps of this transaction.
Let me know if you need any further details or if you would like to buy my car.

Thank you

Wendy

Nicely done Dave. It's on a par with the "I'm from a Nigerian bank and if you give me some money I will send you 100 times more"

I'd suggest I was in Cadiz visiting friends and could I inspect the vehicle tomorrow. When she tells you it's already being shipped back to England I'd ask to which port and say I'd be happy to examine on arrival. See what excuse he/she comes up with then :D

Or even just a photo of something specific on the car that couldn't easily be got from stock. Something that would show the visible VIN perhaps....

Just for fun, I'd say "travelling is not a problem because I'm a pensioner and would love to drive the car back" or even "I have a cousin's brother in law that knows a mechanic with a policemans friend whose girlfriend actually lives in Cádiz and could test-drive the car for me" or even "I love Cádiz, its where I met my wife, we are going there for the weekend because its our aniversary and that car would be the perfect gift"...

I kow, too much TV :D

say you retired from fraud squad only this month. You are planning to spend some time in Gibralter with the head of the Gib fraud squad who did a international car fraud sting with the southern Spanish police, just across the border some years ago.

You would love to re-visit the area and the people, and would be an ideal time to test drive this car.

Lets see what they say then - apart from - gulp!!!

The internet is full of scams, the wife listed my sons old bed on gumtree 3 days ago and we've had 2 emails saying, "I want to buy but (add BS here) etc etc.
I use eBay, but I'm very careful of who I buy from. And if a seller asked me not to buy through the eBay system, I'd end the transaction.
I've sent money to members on here for things but only members I feel I have a rapport with and a mutual level of trust.
Best advice, as said in the article " if it seems to good to be true, it probably isn't "
