XJR 575 - Big Red (Part 3)

So I may have mentioned looking at a XJR 575.

The particular one I'm looking at is at a non Jag franchised dealer in Nottinghamshire.

Service history has been done by Jaguar for the first two (including delivery inspection), but the other 3 services have been carried out by this indie dealer, but using genuine Jaguar parts.

Should I go for it, or pass it by?

Test drive has been arranged for Thursday, but no money for deposit has been paid as of yet.

I'm also looking for two nights accommodation in the Nottingham, Mansfield area.

Has anyone got any recommendations, preferably out in the sticks, so no scroates can spy v3 before possibly exchanging. I've had a car broken into the day before handover, didn't leave a pleasant taste in the mouth - oooh error.

Is there anything in particular I should be looking at, with regards to the XJ-R?

Yesterday the big cat went in for its 96000 mile service.
Got asked if I wanted the spark plugs changed. Err no thanks - not when the mileage is only just over 42k.

Got the car back, and the drive back home I was thinking that the engine was running a lot smoother, with a bit (lots) more grunt.

I'm sat wondering why - if the techs had done anything (refused the noise reduction tech bulletin - again)

Prodded the throttle off a set of lights - rears lit up a bit - then I seen that winter mode had been disabled - so I was having full power nearly on the greasy roads that we have at this time of year. Oops!

That sorted I was wondering why this car gives me such a sh1t eating grin every time I prod the throttle.

In winter mode - it still goes well.

So when you disable that on the dry roads - the car feels far more lively.

Then you've got Dynamic and Sports mode to play with.

And if your talents go beyond that - mine don't, I'm not Lewis Hamilton - then you can disable all the nannies and have the full 575PS (567Hp) going straight to the rear wheels.

Oh - and the noise from that wonderful V8!!!

Yup this one is definitely a keeper!

Not a problem in your parts I'd imagine - but our roads get very greasy in winter, so its more a don't fancy ending up backwards in a hedge.

In summer, I'd only put winter mode on when its raining - again, the roads get very slippery at times.

I always used "winter mode" when chauffering various elderly relatives - I called it "limo mode".

First proper wash yesterday, since last November. Sorely needed it. Water wasn't beading off due to the amount of water spots appearing over winter and lack of time to wash as well as bad weather.

Picture from last week showing how badly the water spotting was affecting the beading and run off.

Doesn't look dirty, but close up it was minging.

Washed and looking great in the early evening sun. Still hard to show the metallics in the pain popping in the sunshine though.

Revived the ceramic coatings with G-Techniq C2. Doing the job well with the rain we've been having this morning.

Indeed, lovely. Just not too sure about the golden discs.

They got scrubbed shortly afterwards. Part of the washing process unfortunately is the ever so slight coating of surface corrosion.

Jim White - famous detailer and YouTuber takes his car for a short drive shortly after washing the wheels and rest of the car, but before rinsing and drying, so the corrosion doesn't have a chance to form.

I like keeping the car clean, but not to that extent.
Seriously Rigz min……see when ah win the lottery, I will get your wheels done PERFECTLY in a Shadow Chrome furye……..utterly stunful car, but somehow black wheels detracts therefrom…….they are for folk who cannot be arsed cleaning cars. That isnae you…if ye don’t like the SC, we can have thum put back to black.

Aye aye Min. Ah ken fit yur saying but 'onestly, the wheels come up good and shiny when thuy're clean. Kinda like flat black body peint faun it's dubby. Looks awfy dull if noo clean like. So easy enuff to see faun thuy're richt clean like, cos the black peint really gies a richt good reflective shine.

Also matches in wie the black windea surrounds, side vents an' the front central an' louer intakes at a front.

It's nae that I canna be airsed cleaning it, jist the gey foull weather wiv had ower á winter. I like ma car looking bonnie clean and shiny, ken fit a mean min?;)
I believe that the only black on a car should be the tyres, unless it's a funeral car, which is what they look like, black wheels just look dirty. Phil

Thats your opinion, and whilst I can respect it, I won't agree with it. If I wasn't happy with black alloys, then they would have been changed by now.

It's this that makes us interesting, that we have a preference and, at least in the Western World, a free choice and may express ourselves without fear of oppression. Doesn't make you right though..... 🤣

Unfortunately Kev I was 21 when I got married, and it's been very bumpy since then, firstly she completely ruined our wedding day....... she turned up, then she stood there in front of everyone and promised to love, honour and obey..... 55 years later I'm still waiting for any one out of three! Then on our 25th wedding anniversary she said she wanted to recreate our honeymoon, go back to Llandudno, stay in the same hotel, book the same roon, same table for breakfast, so I did all this. On the first night we were having a drink in the hotel bar and she said remember the last last time on the first night we crept outside in the dark and made love against the fence, I want to do it agsin. Afterwards on the way back to the room she said "that was great, much better than last time", I replied "well the bloody fence wasn't electrified then". Phil

Hahahaha!! That is hilarrious!
Proper wash with fallout remover afterwards to clear the microscopic hairs of the ceramic, then topped up with G-Getchniq C2. Also gave the Achtung Bus a wash too.

Still need to get the pressure washer onto the block pave - later this week hopefully.

Not an Achtung Bus……itsa Noddy Car. Walk in to one of their showrooms, dressed as a cowboy, and say………”Audi folks…!”
