XJR 575 - Big Red (Part 3)

So I may have mentioned looking at a XJR 575.

The particular one I'm looking at is at a non Jag franchised dealer in Nottinghamshire.

Service history has been done by Jaguar for the first two (including delivery inspection), but the other 3 services have been carried out by this indie dealer, but using genuine Jaguar parts.

Should I go for it, or pass it by?

Test drive has been arranged for Thursday, but no money for deposit has been paid as of yet.

I'm also looking for two nights accommodation in the Nottingham, Mansfield area.

Has anyone got any recommendations, preferably out in the sticks, so no scroates can spy v3 before possibly exchanging. I've had a car broken into the day before handover, didn't leave a pleasant taste in the mouth - oooh error.

Is there anything in particular I should be looking at, with regards to the XJ-R?

I've just fired off another email at the loss adjuster acting for Inverclyde. I know that they should be paying but this tosser is doing everything in his power to wriggle them out of paying 🤬

Parks LR in Ayr have a stunning Range Rover Sport SVR in stock and I'm purposely filling my days off so that I've not got time to get near it at the moment!

A friend was here an hour ago in his courtesy car, a car I never even knew existified, and that is just NOT me…….a 400hp Far King monster of a LR Discovery…….but a bliddy THREE DOOR VERSION….!! Much as it looked utterly stunning, I stupidly shoulda taken some phoateez……the boot was as small as a Toyota Yaris, and rear seat entry utterly ridiculous, for athletic folk only. Price info to follow.

There isn't a 3 door Discovery... the Discovery 5 is a full size 5 door SUV and the Discovery Sport is a smaller 5 door SUV.

The only 3 door I can think of that LR make now is the Defender. That got the P400 or P400e drivetrain on it.

Correct….that’s the one…..they are now as common up here as Subarus and Corsas I got the LR names mixed up. £68,000 and it’s not new……looked like a competitor to that Mitsubishi Shogun 4 Work thing, but nicer internals. Not for me. Looked like 22” wheels tae………gawd, it could shift…..! NICE exhaust note.

The entry level ones aren’t far shy of £60k now and the V8 models are over £100k. A far cry from what the old ones were.

It’s Land Rovers best selling model at the moment.

Therein lies my stunnification, David. There are some on the splinternet with like first aid boxes stuck on the sides, and black bunk bed ladders too….! WTF…..? £140,000.00…..? They are pipping the rish….! If all our tastes were the same, it would be a boring wee world, but nobody could justify that kind of price tag tae Glesga’s best cardboard boax salesman.
