Good evening

Sorry to ask this and I hope you do not mind,

Im in the middle of purchasing a 65plate XFR-S as some of you will know.

We we have been refused the jaguars 7 day insurance as the car doesn’t have a tracker!!!

can anyone recommend a good insurer for a car like this. I’m currently with admiral multi car policy just wondering if there are any better insurers out there.

Any advice welcome.

I struggled with mine once I put the exhaust on.

In the end I gave HR Owen Insurance services a call and they sorted me out with a policy from Aviva.

Hi, my XFR is with Admiral, after Tescos Superior ramped up my policy after my car park damage. Some insurers want a tracker if the list price was over £75,000, mine was just under this. Be prepared to have a large (mandatory) excess though. Good luck, that looks like a beautiful example (and the right colour ;) )

When i had my XFR-S i used The AA, they were excellent and it only cost me £460 for the year with protected no claims, £100 excess and my car did not have a tracker fitted. At the time when i insured the car it was worth £45k

Have you tried comparison sites? I used confused.com each renewal and it helps. I don't go with the cheapest, but there is a lot of variation.

Sorry to hear you had issues with The AA, when i wrote off my XFR-S last December they were great to deal with and paid out within 2 weeks, they gave me back what i paid for the car without any hassle.

I’ve been with Direct Line for the last few years, they covered my M3 and Alfa without the need for a tracker. They are very easy to contact and you get to speak to someone who actually knows what they are talking about, very refreshing. They don’t come up on the comparison sites so you have to go direct for a quote.

Admiral and Aviva were best for Aston - especially Admiral as have had the 5.0N/A Jag with them before. Aviva multi car not as good as before as now cap multi car/multi policy discounts at 20%. Direct Line also heard good stuff but contact them direct. Admiral use their own repairers and have heard horror stories for them re other damage being done during the repair.

If don't do many miles Classicline is good (think they have 5k and 7.5k limits) and gives trackday cover as other stuff as standard (and didn't matter whether I had tracker or not)

As already said, impossible to compare there are over 40 factors used to calculate an individual premium.

Pleas note always worth checking what the extras actually cover.

Say Glass cover, some insurers will allow OE on any car if you ask for it.

Some base the decision on price of the vehicle and or age of the car.

Some flat out refuse to ever allow OE glass and then you have to pay the difference if you still insist. Often an extra250-400 pounds on top of excess.

Then ADAS recalibration on newer models come into play as well

My XF got wrote off in Feb by a foreign lorry driver no fault of mine (he reversed in to it while it was parked) The AA were shocking I had literally( within a fortnight) just had new brake discs pads and four new tyres fitted at quite an expense plus I had a detachable tow bar fitted when the AA assessor rang he said tough luck we are not interested in any of that and then when on to offer me bottom book price for my car! When I said I can't replace it for that (My car was black 19" alloys and a grey leather interior ) and said that my colour and spec starts a grand more than you are offering he pointed out a blue car with beige interior and 17" alloys on car trader as a suitable replacement and told me that's it like it or lump it! The AA despite being very polite basically said because we can treat you poorly and pay as little as possible we will! I had been a long term user of the AA but I will never insure with the AA or use their breakdown cover again and I would advise people to look else where for insurance

Presumably you have sorted insurance but FWIW Privilege insure me without needing a tracker (on a ‘09 XFR so somewhat less valuable, may be a factor!) and for the first time ever (for me), their renewal price was (a) almost the cheapest I could find rather than offensively inflated and (b) less than if I went to them as a new customer.

Yep, got her insured with admiral at the moment but will be changing when its up, as it was such a faff to get it insured. will put privilage on my list as an option. i dont always trust the go compare sites so always like to hear who others use. Think i will end up with a tracker anyway already too over protective of the car so will be a piece of mind having one

Every day after work for the last six to eight weeks, I’ve got into a beautifully ice cold car to drive home.

You’d have to prise my remote start from my hot dead hands.

Definitely see that as a benefit. It was 42c outside my car the other day. Dread to think what it was inside.

NFU gave me a pretty good quote, they are excellent to deal with, don't charge an "admin" fee you if you change plates, give free legal cover and breakdown and even free monthly payments. They also let you use whoever you like to fix glass (including sunroof). But most importantly, they are excellent to deal with - including from reviews, if you ever need to claim. Too many people buy on price alone these days.

I didn't need a tracker either for my car, even when new (which was the same price as a new XFR-S).
