I hate the key fob for my 2010 XJ. It works OK and I have two of them. But they're bulbous heavy old things, and they're all scratched. I didn't like the XF fob much either, but at least it wasn't heavy. Are there any alternatives?

Silicone fob covers improve things. Not the size or weight of course, but nicer to handle IMHO. For example ebay ref 292743372159

That sounds like an idea. I did put the XF fob into a silicone cover very successfully. But I wonder if anyone has a fix to use the newer smaller one.

Here's the answer:
I still have the spare key for my dear departed XF. Compering the innards of the two types I would say they are not interchangeable (well, not without some serious surgery).
