Wipers erected

144 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Night Stalker
Just purchased the car yesterday and took it for a wash. Tried to erect the wipers off the windshield to find that they don't clear the hood/ bonnet.

Weird, all my other cars this was possible. Granted all my other cars didn't have heated windshield and this would be redundant in the winter I suppose....

Tldr. : guy likes his wipers erected sometimes, why no go?

There is, IIRC, a "service position", think it is accessed through a settings menu somewhere. Someone else will have a better memory than I, for sure lol.

You can put them in service position to change them, they down below the bonnet (hood) for pedestrian safely
Didn't think of that, I'll snoop around the menus

I don't think it'll be in the menus as such. From memory it requires holding the stalk in the one wipe position while turning on the ignition.

Shutting the door, pressing the ignition again or flicking the stalk again will reset it back into parked position.

Weirdly the wipers on my golf have a parked position, a "ready to wipe position" literally about an inch higher than parked and then service position. I thought I was imagining it first but then noticed once while it was in auto wipe and turned it fully off that they moved back down below the screen slightly. Bit pointless in my eyes.

I think the wipers might be sitting higher too. In a "services position" like. I'll have to look closer at this.
