There is a filter inside the bottle located behind the pumps, as the windscreen washer pump is located at the base of the bottle it is prone to sediment and causes restricted flow to the pump. The filter needs cleaning every year or so depending on usage, it's unlikely the sediment would make it's way to the lines having travelled through the filter and pump.

Twice a year I let the washer run out and pour in some near boiling water and flush it out, I have been doing this for 11 years and never had a problem with it. Phil

Fair comment Phil but it didn't work for teldoug so he may need a more hands on remedy. The advantage of pulling and cleaning the filter means all the crud in the base of the bottle can be removed making the problem a lot less frequent.

It could be that doing as I am the filter doesn't get a chance to build up the crud, I'm afraid I have always been a proactive sort of person as a against a reactive type. Phil

Hi Rigger

Just out of curiosity does the xfr come with headlamp washers as standard as im just assuming that I have these fitted
What model do you have? The models with Xenon headlights have the washers but they may have been an option on other models. The chrome bits on the lights may be just trim and not the actual washers. Have you looked on Topix to see the spec of your car from the factory as it may save you trying to fix something that you don't actually have.

Please tell me what the location spigot is or is used for. to me it looks like a little tube just sticking out for no reason. Reason im so concerned is the previous oowner of my jag cut some of window washer lines, attached the screen wipers line to the headlight pump....duct tape a whole bunch of stuff. took me forever to figure out what the heck was going on....seems like I have it figured out now, just dont know what to do with the location spigot

If you're talking about item 12, it's a knob, not a tube, it's sealed. It sticks out the washer bottle and locates in a grommet (I think) to hold the bottle in position.
