The plastic scuttle cover is held on with plastic trim clips or scrivet screws, again from memory, though maybe the wiper arms may also need to come off. Other than that I don't think it's all that bad to remove.
Without derailing this thread, I just wanted to close off the brake booster vacuum discussion. The pipes are indeed easily accessible and can be pulled out and cleaned as per Hamed's post. I have done the cleaning, now I will see if it's made a difference.
Only found this by accident today. If you press the Voice Control/Phone button on the steering wheel it mutes the music volume. This works even if you don't have the voice control option on your model.
