So if Scotland's economy is so buoyant, why do they need those subsidies from Westminster? Judging by that info-graphic, they should be sending money South.

Apart from spares for my heating controls, I can't think of anything ( cept smoked salmon) that I buy or use that is 'exported' from Scotland.

98.8 of predicted offshore oil. That's fine, England's offshore product was mainly gas. Then there is the small problem of oil and gas being a declining industry.

25% Of EU wind and tidal energy. Where exactly will the monies generated from this go to? Holywood or shareholders?

11.6% farming? Like that's a huge number to be proud of?

I'd like to see how those numbers stack up against what Scotland gets as part of the UK.

What will happen to the SNP if Scotland does attain independence? Will the SNP bugger off like Nigel Farage did (sort of) after the Brexit vote? What happens to a broke Scotland then?

I agree I can't see how Scotland can be independent unless there's a major fact we're not told, but I can't see it succeed, remember she's just a politician so she's doing what all politician's do lie through their teeth. But it's democratic process that will fail, we're cleverer than we look ;)
If there was anyone hanging on to the oil promise, they've all but thrown the towel in, especially the UK gov recent target on ICE and even more recently the announcements from major car manufacturers to the demise of ICE, really soon.

The best way to make a case for independence is to balance the books now - albeit with a reasonable adjustment for a greater share of the oil revenue.

That would also enhance the prospect of a speedy return to the EU & substantially increase the appetite for Scottish bonds/gilts while maintaining affordable yields.

Scotland can be independent but at the cost of a 7% reduction in the standard of living. The population of Scotland might think that’s a price worth paying as the UK did when when we voted to leave the EU.

a 7% reduction will only effect those employed in the private sector.
the state provides.

if they increase taxes...
who will Nippy blame for that?

I wld suggest massive gov borrowing.

Scotland will be a socialist utopia, not that there is such a thing.

She could introduce massive public work schemes to get employment rates up. I hear Autobhans are a very popular option ....

"The SNP and Scottish media previously campaigned tirelessly for two Labour leaders to resign over standards breaches:

  • Henry McLeish resigned as First Minister in 2001, after failing to declare he sub let part of his constituency office in the register of interests.
  • Wendy Alexander resigned as Scottish Labour leader in 2008, after the SNP-led Standards Committee voted 4 to 3 to propose a one-day ban from the Scottish Parliament after failing to declare one £950 campaign donation.
Lying to – even misleading – the Scottish Parliament about sexual assault allegations appears to Guido to be a far more serious breach of standards than either of those resignation affairs… "

Weds will be joyous.

The difference this time is that Vladimir Sturgeon seems to have neutered every part of the legal & political process that could harm her or her aspirations.

She's sacked everyone that's got in her way, she's stopped political opponents campaigning while conducting a daily political broadcast herself, & she's used public funds to promote the SNP & herself. If she could get her hands on some Novichok she'd probably deploy that as well.

You can only hope that common decency prevails.
If not, and Nippy is allowed to continue, then the good people of Scotland have only themselves to blame ( the ultra Nats are immune ) when Scotland goes tits up.
Major employers would flee, taking their taxes with them.

Anyone with serious wealth would probably conduct their tax affairs this side of the border in the event of devolution. Do you remember the Berlin Wall coming down? How many West Germans do you think escaped to the East?

Seems like they don't want to hear what he has to say for some reason...............so free speech truly is dead in Sturgeonland?

It is not a good look for her, is it?
