Read a few thing about these platforms.

Xe-Xf-F-Pace-Velar same aluminium D7 platform.

Evoque 2 and Disco sport PTA Platform(which is a development of D8 ford platform used on evok 1 and E-pace).

I was asking because I thought the Velar was the estate version of the Evoque.

Velar and F-Pace are of a equal size.

Land Rover is taking iPace platform for their first electric vehicle. It'll be a while though as they haven't any duracells to power it.....

Not sure why, but I missed this thread Gordon. Velar looks very nice and the colour will match your XFR! Talk about his and hers IRR cars ;) I hope it is a good replacement for you (and better half!)

Thanks guys.
My wife, and I for that matter, love the Velar. It’s been absolutely faultless so far and is getting way better fuel consumption than her previous disco sport. She drives it in eco mode but the turbo lag is pretty bad so it’s the first thing I change when I drive it and I’m amazed at how quickly it goes when giving it some beans, not quite the XFR but 7s to 60 is impressive for such a big heavy car. It also handles floods well with 600mm wading ( as we found out going to a Gundog trainer on Monday in the middle of rural Perthshire) and copes pretty well with farm tracks. Yet to try it in heavy snow as we haven’t had any yet!

It doesn’t seem to suffer from oil dilution nor excessive adblue usage so that’s good :)
My wife wanted one the same colour as mine so here it is lol.

She must have got a good one, reviews aren't very good across the pond:

This is exactly the problem with JLR at the moment, great looking products, Brand appeal, but the quality is way below expectations
A old mate of mine turned up at ours today and had a really good look at the body, panel gaps etc
He's a toolmaker , he spent a few years teaching at BMW Oxford and is heavily into detail.
His verdict was that it was as straight as a die and was very impressed with the build quality both outside and in.
Let's see how things progress.

It’s strange really, JLR sell lots of cars and most people know they don’t have a great rep for quality/reliability. Lexus are bullet proof and the dealers are great, but no one buys them. Definitely a case of form over function.

Martin, not sure about form over function. We live up a steep farm track in Perthshire and when deep snow comes the LR are the only 4x4 that make it up. The 4wd system is better than most and we have had a freelancer for 5 yrs, a disco sport for almost 5 yrs and recently bought the velar all without any issues so far! Pretty reliable I’d say as they have all done 15k miles pa.

So you can have form and function. Granted some have had issues but not everyone does.

an ex colleague of mine has just been on the landrover experience day.
He says the Velar was amazing off road.

Having booked a Velar in Rome for our trip, I was interested to see how good these cars are, but not because I really want an SUV.

The interior with the dual screens is a great place to sit, though maybe they ran out of things to put on the lower screen in the one I have. It’s a D180s R-Dynamic. It seems a bit empty.

It actually goes ok and handles really well. Defo has road presence and attracts a lot of looks in towns.

But, and it’s a big but. The car has 13500 kms on the clock, and the interior rattles more than a very rattley thing from rattlesville. I’ve identified three separate ones from various bits of trim. It would really annoy we if I’d spent my hard-earned and got that. So, overall a bit disappointed.

Touch wood, no rattles in ours and it’s on 14k miles to date. Due an A service later this month.
