My dentist, nice lady in her 60s... maybe a 3, has a lot of kit to sanitize everything between patients. My hairdresser, that I don't go to any more unfortunately, as I can't be sure of covid safety, is a 26yo ..9 or 10. Probably secretly partying. So there is more than one difference. 😁

My barber has an epic track and trace system. Much better that a £14m app.

He wears gloves mask and visor, like the dentist.
He takes name and phone number, like the dentist.
He takes your temp on the way in. Like the dentist.
He gives half hour appointments. Unlike the dentist who does 15 min ones and is therefore more likely to meet a problem.

His take is that if he is responsible for passing on COVID, his business is dead.

A dentist does that and they isolate, wipe down and carry on.

Why not let them open. They’re not likely to put their own livelihoods in jeopardy...

I rarely disagree with you sir.

I'm sure you are correct.

however for example

dental hygienist ...not allowed to use nothing but her wrists.. so hand jobs it is...no mechanical aids.

Suction extra

private dentist
no exiting his surgery until all treatment completed

Was at the Dentist last week.

NHS

Completely dry checkup. Bit of poking around with the pointy stick and two x-rays

£12

Filling required but that won’t happen until April.

Hygienist totally out of the question. No wet play at all

The whole which people can work and which people can’t is a mess.

I have a lot of detailer friends. Some work alone in a unit, some drive across the country. Depending on which county they live in seems to depend whether the council or trading standards say they can work or not. Seems most of the mobile ones can carry on regardless, travelling the country but several of them who work alone in their units not seeing another person for days at a time can’t. And as they are mostly some traders, seems theirs no support from the government when they can’t work.

That’s different as it’s a garage doing the work.
