Well, "Hello" to you too, nd4spd. Welcome.

Why don't you introduce yourself by telling us what car you have; you know, model and year etc. ?
It helps.

Nice help boys. Thought this was car forum not cosmo.
Probably the best Jaguar forum you're going to find. But we're a sensitive bunch and kinda like people to say hello before going straight to the "gimme, gimme, gimme".
Want to start again and introduce yourself properly?

I've finally got a camera and want to do this.

I have the fakra connection in my boot but it stops there.

Just to clarify, do I need to buy 2 more looms? 1 for the connection from the fakra I already have in the boot to the inside the bootlid, then another loom for inside the bootlid that will replace the one already in there. 2 looms in total. I'm a bit confused.

I had to get power/LIN bus connection for the camera directly from the rear junction box - as even with the new wiring looms it wasn't going to work.
Hello fellow Jagsters. I am new to the forum, have a 2010 XF-S in liquid silver and have some mods I am currently working on (reverse camera retrofit and Bower-Wilkins Premium sound). Unfortunately my car hasn't come with the camera wiring pre-installed so I have to pull the Fakra cable manually and provide PWR, LIN and GND to the camera inside the boot.
Can anyone who has done the mod be able to tell me where I can pinch these signals ( PWR, LIN and GND) from the RJB or even from inside the boot if LIN signal is going there? I know for PWR and GND I can use any other 12V wires but I'd also like to be able to have the steering wheel lines on screen when reversing. Thanks.

The new loom from the boot to the lid/camera needs a coaxial wire with FAKRA connectors. Hopefully you'll find a FAKRA connector somewhere behind the righthand side boot liner... if not - you'll need to run a long coaxial cable with female FAKRA connectors on each end to the back of the touchscreen!

What was the reason you had to run a power cable from bcm? There are no power cable in the original car’s loom?

Hi @Erickham , welcome - you might want to post a pic or two of your car on the 'Introduce Yourself' page... we're a friendly bunch if you say hi :)

On the back of the touchscreen are four FAKRA connectors - the reversing camera plugs into the purple one.

The camera needs ignition switched 12V power - you can tap a wire in the boot area for this (I don't have the wiring diagrams in front of me, but can get the information if you need it).

The LIN connection allows the lines on the screen to move when you turn the steering wheel... I added a pin to the rear junction box for this, but understand you should be able to just tap into any LIN wire in rear of the car (again, I can find specifics about this if you need it?)

James
Is it a specific fakra cable?
