DId it also ask you to do this after the pads were changed two weeks ago? You are pressing the footbrake and applying the handbrake at the same time, I assume.

Did you put it in service mode when you replaced the pads?
You could disconnect the battery as when reconnected it will ask you to reset the EPB and probably the electric windows. There can be issues with disconnecting the battery so check the procedure for your vehicle regarding time to leave before disconnection. Have you looked at the how to guides on here?
