Oil leak

Hi guys,

Since the sun was up and nice I thought I will give my car a nice clean and inspection.
This is when I found some oil on the undertray and it seems to leak from the front of the engine (please see the picture).
Its not bad as I didn`t see any significant drop in the engine oil level.

Also, would you say these bushes are shot and need replacing (don't hear any knocking yet)?

Car is Jaguar XF X260, 2.0 diesel (180hp) 67 plate.

Thank you in advance :D

It looks dry enough to me. Oil in the tray could be from somewhere else and blown upwards when you drive. Don’t assume it’s from front of engine.

the bushes would fail way before you can visually see anything. It would fail MOT before you notice. If anything try to impulsively apply hard brakes if you feel an impact they are shot. These would stop the wheels moving forward/backwards relative to wheelarch. If they are shot, car would slip forward (relative to wheels) during the sudden brake until the ring around bush hit the shaft. You wouldn’t be able to test it by hand without having a fix positioned camera.

Thank you for the info.

I wiped the oil off before I took the picture (stupid I know). It was there and another place I could see small oil mist but even less (the picture bellow).

I do hear/feel a knock every time I come off the drive or go over a curb. But as you said I will leave it until it really becomes a problem and I`m not just being too pedantic.

There is a rubber plug on the bell housing. Take it off and see if flywheel or torque converter are dry. I hope it’s not the rear crankshaft seal. how much oil was in the tray? Was it floating or just enough to make the foam wet?

I was a bit, but not much just enough to make a bit of stain. I can not see any engine oil loss though in the oil level. The rear crankshaft seal was replaced 6 months ago (or at least I paid a garage for it to be done) That`s why I didn`t focus on that leak in the initial post.
