I’m quite lucky that I was planning on selling the car a few weeks ago and took a lot of detailed photographs of the car including the wheels so it can be easily seen there’s no damage.

The main reason I went there is because the last tyre I changed with my tyre insurance was done there and they did a perfect job.

It’s more the individual fitters than the company. I’ve used my local kwik fit for years and they’ve always done a great job.

Just spoken to Kwik Fit and have been asked to take the car back so that the centre manager can see what's gone on. He was surprised as apparently the tyre machine has a plastic head on it to stop these things happening.

He's advised he'll deal with it in branch and that there's no reason to involve the area manager or head office so here's hoping he's as good as his word.

Well if he goes back on his word, thats when to involve the area manager or higher.

Lets hope the branch manager is an honest man.

Sad news. Hope you get a good result.
I've actually had a tyre fitting company refuse to work on diamond cut lips saying they'll probably scratch them and don't want the work!!
Kwik fit kerbed one of my wheels on an M5 I had when parking it. They paid out after i showed them the pain shadow chrome paint chips embedded in their car park kerb!

Well, seeing as my Introduce Yourself thread has been done to death, I thought it was about time I started a Gallery thread.

I had some time to fettle with the car today.

First step was to replace the number plate filament bulbs with LED's. I also replaced the bulbs on the vanity mirrors with LED's as one of those wasn't working.

Next step was to sort the exhaust tips out.
Before:

After:

I then refitted the freshly painted SpeedPack Splitters.

And then went into a field of my folks for some out of the way photographs.

I'm smitten now, I can't wait to see it after it's paint correction next week :)

I finally managed to get time to pop to The Wheel Specialist today to get a price to have the wheels Kwik Fit damaged repaired.

They’ve quoted £120 a wheel but because one of mine has been diamond cut quite deeply before it’ll leave quite a lip between the rim and the spoke so he won’t cut it again.

I’ve just been to Taggarts who have quoted £733 for a replacement wheel.

I think Kwik Fit might wish they’d never sold me tyres now.

Keep the old wheel as a spare. That's what I'm doing with my other wheel as I don't think it can be cut any more for the same reason. Either get it painted completely grey or maybe ask them to put a silver slip on it so from 6ft you won't be able to tell it's not diamond cut.

There's someone selling a refurbished wheel that looks like it's got a decent lip left on it for £325 on eBay. I'll speak to the centre manager and give him the choice. As long as the car is put right I don't mind if it's a decent used wheel or a new one that's put on it if I'm being honest.

It's just another hassle I don't need.

Oh yea... does anyone else have parking sensors that mess around in the rain? The inner right one on my front bumper seems to alarm all the time now it's been raining for 2 days. it's done it before but usually stops, this time it's constant so I'm beginning to wonder if water is getting into it.

Pretty sure parking sensors were talked about recently David, iirc @OBC John said his died during heavy rain, my front inner right one died whilst driving through a monsoon on the way to South Wales recently.. don't miss it or the reversing camera not working because of it's failure tbh.. but need to get it sorted as the beep and warning message every time I start the car is annoying... :D

I don't remember saying mine have ever failed. Just occasionally in heavy rain one of the rears will give a constant beep and the screen will show it 'detecting' an object. But it happens rarely.

Maybe it was the other OBC John I was thinking of then?... 🤷‍♂️

That's exactly what my front is doing at the moment. Previously it'd do it in the rain but after a few miles it would stop it. This time it's constant and the solid loud beep drives me nuts.

Is it beeping all of the time or only when you start the car David?

Doesn't do anything when starting the car but when you go into reverse or turn the sensors on manually it beeps constantly and shows the sensor on the screen as being up close to something.
