Hello Forum,

Just took delivery of my second XF (a 12 month old XFS) and have noticed that the DEF filling point in the boot appears to have a leak around the cap. I have wiped the area clear around the filling point but after a few trips the crystals from the DEF (Urea) appear on the rubber surrounding the cap and filling hole.

Has anyone else seen this; is the tank pressurised when in use and could it be forcing fluid back up the spout and out through the cap?

I know its fairly corrosive stuff with a pH of 10 so don't want it leaking into the boot; there is evidence that it has been dripping onto the boot liner as there are also dried crystals on the carpet.

Thanks, SJ.

I have the same on mine, don't think it's made it to the liner though. I mistakenly though it might be as they filled it, but on reflection I think it's done with a machine akin to a fuel pump.
I've never got round to wiping it, but I have taken the cap off, didn't hear any hiss so presume it's not pressurised.
