Evening all!! A LITTLE UPDATE....

After leaving the car with the specialist for the last four days, i am quite impatient, I rang him yesterday and they hadn't even looked at it. I spoke to a member of this forum via pm regarding the mongoose pro and sdd i had bought. After exchanging numbers he asked me to send him a rundown of what had happened and what i have done, within 5 minutes he whatsapped me to say he could get my car started!?!?!?

Anyway, tonight I come home from work shoot up to where the car was, and tell him im there, he took over my laptop via teamviewer and precisely 12 minutes later, BOOM, the car was started and advice was given to me to get the problem 100% sorted, not only that, my keys now work 100% (they didnt before and also had a low key fob battery warning)

This member is called ONOTOLE - This guy is incredible, fixed my car(90%) (diagnosed the other 10%) from RUSSIA!
I am a bit lost.
am I right that the car all sorted and because the problem might happen again you have to change the module?

Great result and again Onotole comes up trumps. All credit to him and his willingness to help out. Glad you now have a diagnosis and can now fully resolve the problem, I'm sure that is a blessed relief.

Yes that’s the same problem I mentioned he had. But it was his CJB. This time it is BCM.
The BCM is the CJB I don't know if they just give everything multiple names to confuse us or it's different teams within JLR!
Took me a bit to cotton on that,
BCM ( Body control module) = FSJB ( Front smart junction box) = CJB = The one hidden beside the panel in the front footwell.
BCMB = RSJB ( Rear smart junction box) = The one hidden behind the panel in the side of the boot.

I'm still not sure what the junction box under the bonnet is called, or for that matter if it is computerised too.

Thanks for clarification. I guess the PCM referred in the SDD is the ECU then.

Afternoon Gents.... A new update!!....

I received the new BCM and replaced it, contacted our friend in Russia, programmed it and boom, all the problems gone. Obviously I still had the mechanical problem with the p006a code and the odd other being thrown up, so as some of you may have seen, I did the egr turbo path test(i think that's what it was called) and the test results meant nothing to me. Hamed pointed out i should have done some checks etc. I did these 'visible' checks yesterday and thought okay, I cant find anything, lets ring the specialists again, they cant fit me in until after xmas now.

I took the car out to drop off my brother, no RP?!?!? He only lives 5 minutes away so didn't really get chance to boot it, but my RP probs were so bad that even if I thought about booting it, RP would kick in. When I got back it baffled me so much that I thought i'd take it out again onto the local A road and see if i could get some hard acceleration as I had no doubt that would push it into RP. Boom, on the slip road, barely 3k on the dash and it kicked in. Pulled over, reset it and tried again. This is where the fun kicks in..... Booted down the A road, nothing popped up, turned off followed some country roads, found a private bit of land and flew up and down doing 0-60 and more in record times, IT WAS BRILLIANT! Until... I thought i cant get this thing to go into RP?! So off I tootled back up the country roads toward home, hit a pot hole, AT 25MPH, both nearside tyres blew out! £450 and an hour later, I was home. I only just had winter tyres put on less than 3 week ago!

Again, I come home from work and I have literally been trying my hardest to get this car to go into RP, it wont! HOW CAN THIS BE? could it be that all along my issue was the BCM?

That’s great. Did you buy a new or used cjb?
It’s difficult to say CJB causes that. Maybe there was a loose connector you put it right when were checking for the leak.

Yes PCM ( powertrain control module ) is the (ECU) Engine control unit, bosch unit, under the windscreen vent behind behind the pedestrian airbag on the left of the car I think.

Given it did it once after you fitted the new BCM it seems unlikely. It could be the engine management has now learned it's auto adjustments since you fitted new MAF sensors, and had the battery off. Did you let it idle until warmed up when you first started it after reconnecting the battery?
I've heard of them dropping into RP at full throttle if the fuel filters clogged, so might be worth a look if it's not been changed ( supposed to be done every other service. )
Hopefully it just learned it's adjustments and you don't have any more trouble with it.

Have you took the covers off the old BCM, to see if there's any visible issue with it?

I did a full service(oil fuel and filters etc) 3 days ago, it dropped in once but not once, so maybe you’re right and it’s re-learned values as such?

Yeah, unlikely that learned values could cause RP, but maybe with newly replaced MAF sensors. In any case I hope the RP stays away for you. :)

Used cjb btw
Interesting was it from a regular breakers, and did you have to open it up to reflash it?
( I'm sure I've heard stories that SDD can't flash used units. )

BTW the car is now up for sale with the faults, had my parents staying with us whilst this latest lockdown was in place and took them back yesterday because my dad was due in hospital for a heart bypass today, 6 times that car went into RP and then the pre heater blew, Ive just had enough!

I hope all goes well ( or has already gone well ) with his operation. Hopefully you'll find a more reliable car to replace it with.

Sorry to hear of the various worries you are having. Hopefully the CABG will go well for your father.
You've lost faith in the car (quite understandably) so now is the time to get rid because you are unlikely to feel confident with it no matter what. Sometimes you just know when you need to move on so good luck going forward.
