@Rikajag

I would cancel the auto locksmith. I really don't think this is within his remit. And this will save you money for further down the line.

That's all well and good if you can get the ignition on. You won't be able to communicate with any modules if they're not powered up.

And it seems he can't get the ignition on.
You can get the ignition on with SDD without a paired or functional key fob. It will log this happened on ECM.

Brilliant this, sounds very similar- Iive just spoken to the dealer and the specialists who both said, ooh big job will have to replace the cjb blah blah blah give us your money! Surely someone can do this outside of them?

The OP does CJB repairs, but he is in Russia. I'll try and make a few phone calls to see if anyone local does it. I'll let you know.

Gents ive just spoken to a garage called Tim Revetts, who asked me to see if the steering wheel moved, I checked and yes it does, like there is no steering lock - He reckons its a steering lock/security issue and that is whats causing my issues, can anyone corroborate this?

If you see key fob not found message, It should be something to do with keyless entry module or cjb. Or as suggested communication between them. Watch below video. It’s almost the same car as XF in terms of electronics. PAM and KVM modules are exactly in that corner on XF. Worth a check.
I have seen that rust and cleaned it due to bad installation of air vents. strangely for me it sorted out my reverse camera quality which was distorted.

UPDATE! It is not the keys, just before the auto locksmith turned up I spoke to a specialist who reckoned it was something to do with the steering column.....

Locksmith gets his laptop out etc and the car switched on, he checks the keys, they are fine and communicating etc etc. Whilst hes doing what hes doing, im looking at the dash because before now it wouldnt come on, I had 2 warnings, STEERING COLUMN LOCKED & DSC FAILURE(or alike). Weird coincidence the specialist said this, then the message pops up? Anyone any experience with this? cost etc? Thanks, Mike

So it wasn't locked and now it is?

EDIT:

Now that you have ignition try and read the codes. VIM is the steering column lock.

Ahh, ok. So it's just saying it's locked on the dash but isn't actually locked. Yea I would say you can't really go much further without reading the fault codes and getting an indication of where to start.

You need to find someone local to you who is a mobile technician who has SDD or you could get the software/hardware yourself and then you'll be able to read and diagnose more. I think without these steps you're unlikely to get far.

Invest in an iCarsoft LR V2.0, can be bought for £120 ish, it'll give you all the codes, can clear them and check live data etc but is no where near SDD but SDD is complex to use without knowing what you're doing.
