You need the DTCs and if there are none, you need to read the live data for fuel rail pressure, current draw for glow plugs etc. Without diagnostics you're struggling. Was the fuel filter recently changed, after the engine was running with no issues? If so, I've read several times that the restart after the filter change was hard, lots and lots of cranking.
the secret to the priming is not to just pull it through the new filter, you need to pull it through the filter and the fuel rail past the injectors to the return to tank line, then its fully primed

i have found that if you use a vac pump and pull the fuel past the top of the engine in the fuel return line, all air is removed that can cause a lock up , just a suggestion ,
