My fuel filler gasket has completely broken down & water is filling the filler basin when it rains, completely submerging the filler cap. I've spoken with several Jaguar dealers parts people & apparently the gaiter is no longer available. Does anybody have a work around. 1990 XJ6 Base.

Isn't there a drain hole in the filler neck under the filler cap? I have had mine block up before on my previous X Type and recently on my XF and had to clear it by running a thin piece of wire down it. Is it the same on the XJ?

Try these people. They specialise in parts for "older" Jags.

After cleaning the drain hole, I removed the he flap & fashioned a gasket of sorts out of sticky foam window weatherproofing. Be interesting to see how long it lasts.
Make sure it doesn't block the drain hole :)
