A nice end of term write in this months EVO magazine - lots of love for the F-Pace SVR.
One comment that jumped out at me was “on more interesting drives it carved a course that reminded you of an XFR saloon…”
As a previous XFR owner I agree with that.
Still very happy with my F-Pace SVR (and have just bought a F-Type SVR to go alongside it).

I keep looking at replacing my Range Rover and XFR with one car. I keep looking at the F-Pace SVR but it’s only got a 2000kg towing limit which is an issue for me :( The RRS SVR is the only SVR flavoured candidate but that’s still not got the full 3500kg limit, for some reason it’s restricted to 3000kg. 🤔

So, a full fat RR SVR with the 5.0 supercharged it'll have to be. 😁

Nah… I keep thinking 3000kg will do as there are other RR’s here that I can use if I need the 3500kg limit.

The RRS SVR is a very different drive to an XFR - noticeably softer/less sporty than the F-Pace SVR. That doesn’t make it a bad choice but it won’t feel like an XFR (or F-Pace) when pressing on. Just depends on your priorities.

Now the little fella is here I’m rarely in the car on my own.

I reckon the RRS SVR will be stiffer then my RR but not as stiff as the XFR from what I’ve read and what you’ve just confirmed so as a compromise to replace the pair it’s probably not a bad one.

The F-Pace SVR is appealing as I’d get a much newer car for the same money but the 2000kg towing limit puts me off as our flatbed trailer weighs 900kg with nothing on it.

My F-Pace with a large flatbed trailer and a 1.1 ton tractor on it, towed beautifully. I was likely close to the maximum permissible towing weight though. I didn't look at the plate on the trailer to check the weight.

You are quite correct, it seems all models and derivatives of the F-Pace can tow 2,400kg.

Why do you need to tow with it when you have other vehicles for that? It seems to be a far better road car than the RRS.

In the Jaguar handbook it shows the XFR as not suitable for towing! Not due to lack of power or torque... Could be why the same applies to limiting SVR towing limits to less than smaller engines?

Everywhere I look including in the States it still says 2,400kg even for the SVR?

Although when searching just for F-Pace there is this variable result returned, but when specifying the SVR it returns the exact value.

However, I'm wondering that as I believe the weight of the load including trailer can't be more than the weight of the car, then I would have thought the SVR be heavier due to the bigger engine? I think the kerb weight is 2t but the gross weight is 2.5t, so maybe it depends on how many and how chunky the passengers are?

Where'd you get that from? You can tow up to the permissible max weight, which is 2,400kg. You do need to consider the overall vehicle and trailer weight though. The loaded weight of the car, maximum is 2540kg, with a maximum vehicle and trailer weight of 4,940kg. It's quite permissible to tow 2,400kg with the car unladen at 1,951kg (+driver weight). These figures are taken from the Jaguar published data for the current D200 R-Dynamic S. Be cautious of the licence restrictions though, depending if you passed your test before or after 1997. Before, you can drive a trailer and car with a max weight of 8,250kg, after it's only 3,500kg. The 500kg trailer regulation was recently removed from UK law.

I thought it was common knowledge and common sense, otherwise you risk the tail wagging the dog scenario? I think it's called outfit matching or something, although not an actual legal rule.

That's interesting, I hadn't realised the SVR variant of the F-Pace could tow 2400kg. I'll ponder the thought and might go and have a look at one if there's one for sale locally.
