Hi all, I'm participating in a similar thread on another forum, where users are sharing stories of their order and anticipated/actual delivery dates (along with useful nuggets of associated info). This is a long post to kick the thread off here, so please bear with me as I wanted to included as much useful info as I can.

Given the current situation with supply chain, extended delivery timescales etc, I found that thread useful to build a better picture of what's going on out there. For example I noticed a pattern in the posts, so that it provided at least some sort of guidance on where the average might be. Also it highlighted some of the differences across the dealer network and in particular what was happending around model year changes, while people awaited their cars.

Anyway I thought it would be useful to start a similar thread here, so feel free to add your own order stories here and hopefully this will be helpful to other new members. For clarity, the info I'm presenting here is based on experiences in the UK, so 'your mileage may vary' if you are in other countries.

So my car was ordered in mid-December 2021, there's a bit of back story on how I chose which dealer to go with, I can go into that if anyone's interested. At the time I ordered I was advised lead times for my model were in the range of 9 to 12 months.

Going through my spec there were a couple of items I was considering, which the dealer told me were off the table for current orders. Unfortunately I don't have the actual list to hand, but particular highlights were the HUD and 360 Camera options (by the way this last one was removed from standard spec between MY21 & MY22).

Ordering any of those items would either result in the order being rejected outright or possibly being taken into the system and delayed indefinitely. Any GOOD dealer should be able to actually show you this list. My dealler showed me this list as we discussed spec and its bascially a spreadsheet showing all the model combos, standard & optional equipment, forecasted leadtimes (in months) and then a list of items marked in red at the bottom that are the 'no go' options.

I ended up settling on the following spec; R-Dynamic HSE, Portofino Blue with Mars Red interior. I've kept the standard Performance seats that come with HSE, as I found them more comfortable on a test drive and they look great to my eyes. Other details are the standard bright trim, the standard HSE 21" wheels, privacy glass, fixed pano roof, power recline rear seat and remote seat release levers.

After initially having no dates, in the last few days my dealer has sent me an update to say the car has an expected delivery date of "early June" - in other words about 6 months from point of order. This seems to be about the average that I found from posts on the other forum.

To be fair the dealer did stick to his promise to update me every three weeks, but this was generally just a 'no update' type message. Interestingly this latest update came only two weeks are the previous one - which says to me they really have no control over if/when they get info from Jaguar. Incidentally I'd heard there was some kind of limitation on availability of the D300 engine, not clear why, but my dealer was unaware of anything in that regard when I asked.

So in summary, along with the seemingly average current lead time of around 6-7 months, here's some key things that others might find useful to know:

- ‘Off limits’ options; Going through my spec there were a couple of items I was considering, which the dealer told me were off the table for current orders.

Unfortunately I don't have the actual list to hand, but particular highlights were the HUD and 360 Camera options (by the way this last one was removed from standard spec between MY21 & MY22).

- VISTA; When you place an order the dealer enters into a central system called VISTA, this generates something known as a 'VISTA' build sheet. This sheet shows all the information related to your order, it will include the list of both standard and optional items included.

Any items NOT included in your build/spec will still be listed on the sheet, but the line will be marked with 'LESS' at the beginning.

Your dealer will not automatically share thwith you, but you can ask him for a copy and he should send you a PDF (apparently some dealers are refusing for no particular reason). My example below only shows the first page, the actual document is 4 pages long.

- ORDER STATUS; Linked to the VISTA is the order status this will be shown on the first page (see my example below, highlighted line marked 'STATUS'). Note that your order status might say "Holding Pool". If it does, what this means is that your order actually hasn't made it to the factory/Jaguar at all, this status actually means the dealer is 'holding' your order while they wait for allocation (aka an available build slot allocation). When they get allocation, this status should change to 'Confirmed'. There appears to be a further step in status once it actually goes to build which is order ‘Committed’.

The line 'Called Over' is a yes/no and apparently means the car has been built and been 'called over' by the dealer for delivery. Note that you will also at some point get a 'last amendment' date, where you can change your mind over spec, but anecdotally is seems it may not be a good idea as it could actually delay your order further.

- HOLDING POOL/BUILD SLOT ALLOCATION; With regards to the build slots issue mentioned in the last point, it appears there is no real guidance on how this actually works. As far as I gathered, it seems dealers get allocated 'slots' somewhat according to their size/status/sales volumes. In other words, if you're with some small dealership in the middle of nowhere they may get fewer and more irregular allocation of slots versus a larger dealer group/central dealer.

This will have an impact on your order lead time, but also bear in mind that your order may be sitting in a large holding pool, so there could be a number of people ahead of you that will get the next allocation and you might miss out. A word of caution here, some of this is ancedotal, but seems to be largely accurate based on posts by users in the other forum.

Build Slot addendum; Two members posting on the other forum, made a reference to factory production planning and how this may affect build slots/times, they received the following comments in email from Jaguar via their dealer; "We are aware of a number of orders that are Confirmed but without build dates. This is because the order bank is full as far out as our provisional production plan will allow and the supply constraint on MHEV engines mentioned above. On a weekly basis, as and when a new provisional production week becomes visible, orders are being slotted accordingly. Please continue to monitor your orders in VISTA". Unfortunately it hasn't been made clear what that 'provisional production plan' might look like - for example was it the next fortnight, month, 3 months etc.

- MODEL YEAR CHANGES; I've seen a number of posts from people saying they ordered around the June - August 2021 timeframe and are only now getting delivery dates (in some cases which are still months away). This seems to have been caused by their order falling into a kind of 'blackout' period between the model year changes that apparently Jaguar make in that Summer timeframe. As a result what happens is they get notified their MY21 order is cancelled, then re-entered as a MY22 order.

There are a few key points here, 1) apparently these people were not given any particular priority when their order was re-entered, 2) there are obviously spec changes between model years, a key example being 360 camera, 3) price changes, now my dealer promised if there was an increase I would still get my car at the original price, but I've seen a post from one member saying their dealer is trying to pass through a small incremental amount at point of delivery. This last point seems unacceptable to me.

- 'Interactive Driver Display' (aka digital dashboard); This is an option on models lower down the trim levels, but is standard on R-Dynamic SE & HSE, P400E and SVR models and replaces the analogue dials. I've seen some posts indicating this is being removed from cars, due to shortages, where its in the standard spec and will not be available on cars where it is an option (e.g. R-Dynamic S). It is apparently being given priority on the P400E plug-in hybrid, due to requirement to display charging/range info etc.

I checked this with my dealer (as its something I said I must have) and he absolutely reassured me that it would be delivered, as part of the standard spec for my car. In fact this was how I was introduced to my VISTA sheet!

Unfortunately I've seen a post at time of writing, where a member has been unexpectedly told his car is delivered, but it has been received without the digital dash (apparenly on an R-Dynamic SE, which is supposed to have it as standard). So approach with caution, as there seems to be a lot of misinformation and inaccuracy on availability of this item. As much as I know digital dashes aren't for everyone and some people prefer traditional dials, for me it seem ridiculous that a 'premium' car in 2022 at this price level would not have a digital dash.

Anyway, that's what I have, let's try and keep this thread on topic to provide clear information to everyone (or as clear as we can!) and please add your own experiences/stories here. Apologies if I've duplicated any other threads here, but the admins indicated there wasn't one like this on the forum.

Thanks, I actually started off with an SE, but by time I’d added the things I’d want (like the Meridian sound, Performance seats etc) it was actually cheaper to just go with the HSE.

I test drove a D200 S which was nice, but the HSE I sat in at the dealership was just that extra bit on top with the microfibre headliner and other little extras.

I do miss my M4, but I’m really looking forward to gettingthe F-Pace and I think it’ll be a lovely thing to be in.

Fabulous (y)

I'd recommend the opening panoramic roof if you're spending this much :) It's not a lot more and I'm sure the spec isn't locked in yet....
We added it to the Chequered Flag and Mrs S loves it.

Bright light from above can give me a headache or worse a migraine, I wear a hat when walking out if it's bright. In a car with a sunroof I keep the blind shut, though some blinds aren't sufficient. Coupled with the massive expanse of glass in a panoramic roof I'd keep the blind shut all the time, so pointless having one for me. Plus I'd worry at the cost of glass replacement, not covered under the glass policy so would be a full accidental damage claim. Of course, I'm not everyone, and some just love them.

Yes, most people rave over the panoramic roofs but I keep the blind closed on mine most of the time.

Our I-PACE doesn't have a blind but even if it did I wouldn't close it.

Never been a fan of sunroof, a bit like Alan, I found myself squinting to see out of the windscreen with the sun coming directly in. If I had a choice I'd go for a normal roof every time.

But if you have a blind, you have both options :)

If you have a blind and keep it closed = no point in having a sunroof.

You could have the roof open a little for airflow, but use the blind to stop your head getting fried ;)

I don't need air flow, I've got A/C ;) and if I did, I'd open the window a smadge.

That's exactly what Mrs A does in her X4
