The DPF full warning came on today in my 2012 XF. I was told to take it for a run down the motorway at high revs for 20-40mins but it's not gone off.

Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks in advance, Madison

It's not necessary to keep the revs high. A steady motorway run should do the trick. You may find the warning light will go off shortly after the next time you start but if it doesn't, go for another run. It'll get there.

Welcome to the forum.

Firstly is the warning red or orange?

If it's red there's not much you can do apart from take it to a specialist, Jaguar (£££) or an independent.

If it's orange ignore the advice you've been given and take it for a normal drive for 30 minutes at motorway speeds without revving the arse off it. You'll need to make sure you have more than a quarter of a tank of fuel.

I agree with the above, you don’t need to rev the engine. Maintaining a gentle speed over 50mph in auto is what is needed for a regen: the car will take care of the rest.

I would take it on the motorway and maintain a steady 60 or 65, so you’re not on and off the throttle keeping up with traffic.

Also stick some archoil ar6400-d max in and brim the fuel tank, if you haven’t already got an additive in the tank.

As folls have said no need to go fast it won't regen after 75 and will start after 25mph (40kmh)

Make sure you have no other warnings as some will stop the regen process like the service indicator

A good 20 min run at around 40mph was all it took for mine to clear once the source of the issue was resolved.
Have you an ODBII code reader to check the car for any DTC codes highlighting other issues?
