But why would the front pads be in contact with the discs?
Unless you're suggesting that the judder actually originates from the rear brakes.
So... on my XF, the front steering shimmy on applying the brakes was entirely due to corrosion in the REAR slider pin rubber bush locating holes... go figure...!

Exactly the same for me, rear o/s slide pin was sticking. I decided to buff up all holes and pins, renewed the bushes and lubed up with CeraTec and the vibrations went away.
