If the alternator is not speaking back on the lin or speaking garbage then you‘ll get an error.
I went through the same with my sons fiesta it was a newish pattern part, but it no speeky lin, even though the connector was the correct one etc. bought a second hand Ford unit and problem solved

LIN bus is bidirectional. If you have access to the plug, could you use a crocodile connector and temporarily make the connection? Alternatively, is the electronics on the old alternator transferable to the new one?
An last question, are you sure it’s LIN? Being one wire, it feels like it’s just a tachometer and sends the alternator speed. I haven’t checked the WM.
Lin is only one wire mate, think it’s a bosch invention, basically it’s just a serial comms wire (With reference to chassis)

Excellent Dirk, well pleased for you.
So a pattern part doesn’t mate with the lin bus connector ! Sounds like a reason to get some sort of compensation after the time you’ve spent investigating it?

Ok, I understood it perfectly, thank you very much. just one more doubt.
I don't have a battery charger with that amperage. Can I connect the clamps with another started car? Connecting the + of one battery with the other +, and connecting the - to the chassis as indicated in the Jaguar manual, or would this not be viable?
Thank you very much for everything, I owe you one.
yes that should work

I just bought a 13.8v 30A charger. How should I connect it, directly to the positive and negative terminal? Or positive and chassis?
in reality, it makes no difference
