I want to retrofit a rear aux socket below the rear vents on my 2008 XF. Fitted the new vent moulding with 12v socket this afternoon and looked at wiring. Initially I thought to make an extension from the unused plug under the cupholders (for non-fitted smoker's pack) but the connection and wiring colour is different to that on the vent moulding. Is there a difference in the working of these two sockets?

Many thanks,

One's a cigar lighter, the other is an auxillary power socket, both separate circuits with their own fuses.

Reading further into it, in cars fitted from factory, the centre armrest and rear sockets are powered from same fuse, which suggests they are wired in parallel. so, now thinking it might be better to piggyback from the centre armrest than the cigar lighter?

Anyone know there would be an official jumper loom to do that?
