Autobox behaviour

I had my 8 speed gearbox oil and filter changed recently by a Jag specialist indie. It wasn't flushed.
While it is working absolutely fine, there is a subtle change to its behaviour. From standstill it lets the revs build slightly higher before taking up the drive. Such that if being heavy of foot, the revs build a bit, the drive comes in a little less gently and wheel spin is more likely than before. (If I hadn't got well used to it beforehand I wouldn't think it was anything but normal, it is a subtle difference.)
Does anyone know if this is normal after an oil change, or maybe a bit short of oil or needs to re-learn. Or anything else? Is there anything that can be done to get it back as it was?

I’ve just changed the oil in my 5.0 Range Rover gearbox, although it’s a 6 speed I noticed no difference at all in it’s behaviour.

I had the 8 speed in my XFR flushed and other then it being a bit smoother through the gears, there was zero difference in it’s behaviour either.

First thing I’d do if it was mine is check that the level has been set properly as it needs to be done when the oil is within a certain temperature range.

I have read that after a fluid change the gearbox needs to go through the re-learning process.
I think you can use a half-decent code reader (maybe an iCarsoft LR V2 or V3???) to reset the gearbox adaptations to factory default then the re-learning process starts.

Lag on engagement to throttle input sounds like low fluid? I don't think that's as should be and certainly not as from factory new.

Interesting, my XF does this on occasion. I had the oil changed to see if it would correct it but no.
I have found that turning the A/C off can improve the gearbox behaviour from take off. Not ideal, and may be pointing me to another issue as I've noticed a whine when the A/C is on.
I haven't looked at my Autel MaxAP200 to see if it can reset the gearbox, but SDD can on anything up to MY17 cars.

I'd suggest have the gearbox reset done when it's in being checked for oil level then just drive it 'normally' for 150-200 miles to let it adapt to the new fluid.

Had the gearbox checked out today. It apparently took a gnat's spit more oil, so it was unlikely to be that. They've reset the gearbox computer thing, so I have to drive like a granny for a few hundred miles while it re-learns. So far, over just 10 miles, it seems back to its better self.

Can always have them reset again if the box learns to change to 8th gear before 28mph and won't change down again!

The "adaptions" being learned are not about when the 'box changes, but for the ramp up and down of oil pressures within the various servos to ensure smooth changes. Hence the requirement to avoid kickdown for a while.
