Alternative approach to installing Apple Carplay/Android Auto

I tried something similar with a carplay unit I had knocking about in the garage. This was a temporary mock using velcro pads and the horrible arm mount, just to see if I could cope with the screen being there before I did what you've done.. In the end, I abandoned the idea and went back to using my phone.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting it is because I ran the cable where you have but I was able to get mine hidden behind the trim. I thought I'd post it you show you how clean it can look. You can't even see the cable here. It's easy enough to do.

Excellent! I ma have another crack at it: I wasn’t game enough to try to make it fit.
What I did was remove the "blade" trim from the dash (easy to do with a small pry tool) and that allows you to undo a torx screw near the steering wheel black plastic trim. You can then tuck the cable behind there. Along the top between the leather and the silver I just used the same pry tool to push the cable in the gap. 5 mins work at most and then you are cable free.
