Has anybody ever been insane/drunk enough to get a Main Dealer to service their aircon system…? Can you remember how much, or did the shock render you deceased…? Mine is working, but has never been touched in its 7.5 year life, so thought maybe worth a wee punt. Doned cabin filter myself though.

Edit 2……£350-400.00 from Jaguar garage at Inverness. No set price as such…..depends on grammage of coolant used. In the fame of nuck……

If it ever gets hot up there and you are too hot and it blows hot air , then get it tested.

That was my main objective, Wilf, but would need to use one nearer “home” in Glesga…….Audi Murphy and many others cowboys at work up here. But £350 tae £400.00…? Jucking fokers the lot of them.

While this subject is being resurrected, my wife is running a 2019 F-Pace and while the cold air flow is excellent, there is one vent (nearside front passenger, centre of the dash) that is noticeably not so cold. No work has been done on the car that could affect the air ducting and as I said the air con itself is nice and cold everywhere else.
Any ideas at all would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Assuming that the other passenger side vents blow colder than the passenger side centre dash vent, then the presumption is the ducting isn't connected correctly and is leaking? My old XF-S passenger side heating wouldn't get as warm as the driver's side, no matter what setting. In fact that was positively tepid at max heat, from all passenger side vents. Attributed to a blend flap not fully closing but never fixed as it was a dash out job to get the heater box changed.

I feared this might be the reason but to be honest, I don't really need the expense of pulling the dash to rectify at the moment.
As I said it is blowing some cold air but not as well as all other vents.
I think I'll leave well alone for a while or at least until I have received my latest energy bill
Then I might not be able to afford the car let alone repairing it.

The local dealer did mine for free after scratchgate about 5 years ago.

My local Indy did an air con service for me just 6 weeks ago, for £70 incl VAT.

It was already cold and problem free, so now it is just even colder.

Hi Guys,

I wanted to share my experience from literally the last 2 months, so you can decide whether to do it or not.
I found my airco was performing below standard, it got cold but not ice cold/

So I went to an airco specialist to do a "car airco service".
During the service something went wrong they said they could fill it over 650 grams even though the sticker said 750 grams.
Got the old XF 2010 model 3.0D performance edition.

So after I found my airco did not improve so and they said that even with 650 grams it should get colder and therefore something was wrong.
Due to the fact they messed that service up I went to a specialist.

He said there is an eletronic issue that is causing the "low power / limp mode" the ECU didnt tell the airco to go high power.
He did fill it to 750 grams so he said that is not the issue and everything else seemed ok according to him.
Aside from some odd readings with pressure but he blamed the ECU.
It was 26 degrees that day and my external temp said 18, so he diagnosed it as problem with external temp sensors.

So I got that fixed costed me again a lot of money and guess what, same problem.

So now I am sitting in 35 degrees outside with a non working airco.
All in all, advice is make sure you bring it to someone that knows his stuff.
This has been another nightmare.

Does this might have something to do that I disabled the pre-heater, in the winter my car didnt heat and I disabled it on advice of a fellow member.
But does that pre-heater affect the airco, I would assume not since heater = hot and airco = cold, but I am not sure.
Do know that my preheater caused only cold air, when i disabled it I got hot air again in the winter after 5 minutes but still better to get hot air then none at all.
Now the issue is cold air, it is so hot and the airco blows hot air even on LOW mode.
So sorry to highjack this thread with a question but I guess it is relevant to the airco service question of the OP.

There's been a few issues with aircon not working attributed to the compressor valve malfunctioning, there's a bulletin about it somewhere and seems quite common to need it changed yet some specialists seem to not understand its function or know how to test it?

Ah great thank you for this information, I will relay it to the shop, hopefully they can get it.
So the part number c2d42376 is all that needs fixing?

So for all that have aircon issues, perhaps this is the way.
Please make sure you check it somehow else you waste time and money like I have done!
