Cracked out the decent gloves for a first time in a long time, forgot how much better these are than the others I've been using that I got on clearance...

And this was why I got them out:

Applicators have long since been used, so a trick straight from KDS videos:

These even came out:

All coated:

Then out came the boot light:

Much brighter, practical:

Decided to go with the mirror removal to work out the lower cover:

Remember this little one as the end as the chrome piece is attached to the mirror base:

And off it came once the plug was released:

Whilst the door card was off, thought I'd do the standard xf front door repair:

Started looking at the mirror, took the glass off:

Went to take it apart fully:

Then noticed this:

The little nipple was out! I assume this is the air sensor, lined it back up:

That was all lined back up! The puddle light won't click into place, it looks like the area it clips into is broken so it won't fully seat...

Just going to hold it in with a bit of RTV or something.
Nice one Jordan.. that C5 really does bring out the beauty of the pink doesn't it?...

Only jesting mate, looking very good...

Wouldn't the application of a hair dryer or heat gun help to soften the plastic before removal?

Well I bit the bullet and ordered a thermostat, water pump, drive belt, charger belt, plastic coolant hoses, crankcase hoses (except the one i know i can remove without breaking), coolant reservoir and breather diaphragm...

Lovely 500 expenditure, that hurt... I also ordered ATE super t200 brake fluid to go in when the refreshed calipers go on! I think that covers all planned parts acquisition from my lists, hopefully no more needed although I do need coolant for the work

So the parts started to arrive today:

Good thing I tidied the garage, going to have to store plenty of parts...

More parts arrived:

The LED Boot light is very useful:

Always so hard to picture though without looking exceptionally bright!

These also arrived:

And were duly protected:

Looks like I will be ordering some JLR tools and re fit kits for the injectors potentially, and getting them out, and the carbon deposits they're likely dowsed in removed...

Still need to discuss this with my friend in terms of time frames and plausibility etc. But doesn't look as arduous as I initially thought so has potential

I do, but these came up a lot less than typical sale value... always people looking for replacement wheel nuts so I am sure I can recover some of the original cost

I see 20 nuts... are you not meant to use locking nuts with these? Or are 5 spare?

Am I missing something?

Go to sleep, there are 20, I wouldn't run locking nuts with them, I don't with the gorilla ones either

That’s the plan!

They look really good, how much do they usually go for?

The cheapest set I've seen listed new are 140, they're around the 230 mark from places like rimmer bros and brit car

Remembered I had a task to do this morning... so out came this:

Cleaned the connections:

They look fine:

Then this came out:

For these bits:

Sprayed them from various angles and left them to dry before reinstalling them. The issue hasn't repeated between finding fault codes and cleaning them, so not expecting to know any time soon, but hopefully that improves things, if not I'll just replace them
