    Urgent help needed

I cooked some pork sausages yesterday, for my kids to eat cold today.

I left them on the side to cool down, but forgot to put them in the fridge until about 12 hours later.

    Are they safe to eat?

Well, when we were barbarians, we would eat those 2 days later if the taste wasn't bad. But now when pork sausage aren't made of true pork, they might be good even longer. Anyway, pork is full of antibiotics and so on.

Hi, as they have been cooked at a high temperature in theory they should be free of any possible contaminants, would I eat them? probably no. Phil

I would, but I used to eat cold pizza 12 hours after it was cooked, and not refrigerated. Would I let the kids eat the sausages? Not so much.

You're in luck though Jake - you can reheat the sausages - unlike a Pot Noodle - apparently

By contrast, I would have no hesitation in eating them!
I often do the same with sausages - cook them just before going out of date - and also often forget to put them in the fridge after they've cooled down, until next morning. Hasn't done me any harm.

In my opinion, they should be fine for an adult, especially if they weren't kept at 35C. But parent tend to overprotect their kids so their stomach and immunity system is weaker. You should know better if your kids will have problems or not. I, for example, know parents who didn't let kids eat pork until 10 years and then they have realized that the kids evolved some kind of allergy to processed pork food.

There is not enough information to be able to advise properly.

What did you leave them on the side of? If it was the side of the road then probably best not to feed the kids with them

How old were the sausages before you cooked them?

Also how old are the kids, if a few weeks old then a sausage is not generally a good meal.

I love my sausages use a local farm that produces their own. They even sell them in Morrisons.

On the other hand, there have been 20 posts since the OP at 08:51 this morning, 16 on the subject of sausages and 4 about painting a garage. Not bad for a forum about Jags!!
