    A and B Service

Where can I get an itemised list of what is supposed to be done on an A service and B service for a 2011 3.0TTD Portfolio S?

Hmm... why is there such a difference in item 19 in the two posts above? 10 years / 150k miles or 5 years / 120k km?

Yes gourmetsaint, it is correct except for item 11 which should be A service only. Jaguar say to do the transmission fluid every ten years but wise owners should do it much earlier. The 5 years depends on the mileage really.

I changed item 19 on purpose. I'll correct item 11. Thanks for the feedback.

    I'm interested in :-
    1. * * Check condition of wiper blades.
Because I just had a B service (£795) and my blades were perished and not working well. In fact I already knew this and had a set on order (now fitted). Nothing was said at the service.

There you go, thought the cost was a bit steep. The extras explain the rest.

Did anyone let a dealer do the gearbox oil change (no 19), and what did you pay for it in that case?

    Welcome Mikeyp.

Yes, around here we are also signed on to the "replace your transmission fluid at 60k mile intervals" mantra. I simply do not understand why Jaguar or LR don't put it into the service schedules. "Sealed for life" = a short life.

Mind you - Jaguar have form - the transfer boxes on AWD X types were the same.
XF replaced by a big tractor due to intransigence of Jaguar marketing. A V6 engine and a Portfolio interior are now mutually exclusive if you live in the UK, but not elsewhere.

    Old lives matter!

    HOW MUCH!?

For brake fluid change and rear pads??

I hope they're gold plated pads and unicorn tears for fluid.

Honestly you've been proper had there! I'd expect any other garage to do that for about 100 Max and that's for the xfr pads.

Air con seems on the expensive side too presuming it's just a leak test and recharge. Again that's normally about 30-40 quid.

I really don't know why people pay so much for a dealer service when there's such good independents about.

Thee weeks ago I paid $340 (about 160 GB pounds) to have all four rotors renewed, all four sets of pads renewed, the brake fluid drained and renewed, and an engine oil & filter change.
Admittedly I supplied all the parts fluid and oil, this was labour only, but again the moral of the story is that a good independent can do the job just as well as a dealer for a fraction of the labour cost. I shudder to think what my local stealership would have charged for this labour, well over $1,000 AU in my guestimation.

Probably for the Jag stamp in the service book, there's no other reason I can think of.
