I certainly don't have any problems with this thread and anyone who contributes to it.

I just dip in and out and comment if anything is relevant to me.

I have turned off notifications though as my phone was bleeping every couple of minutes.

That then is one for the site owners and admins to preside over.

Not one to suggest exclusion of anyone. Just looking for a solution and if that kind of filtering is possible, then perhaps that's one. Rightly or wrongly, this issue has seen one or two long-established FMs go bye-bye.

Then surely, rather than exclusion the solution is to have a way to hide a thread or have it filtered out of the Whats New / New Posts pages on a per user request basis so that it doesn't appear to be overwhelming, but for people who do enjoy it, it continues to appear. Then everyone is happy?

So far, after initially understanding how we set it up for them, they have done an admirable job of not allowing their "chitchat" to spill over into other threads, which is just fine and dandy.

    So..........chitchat away here!
thanks wilf but every ones free as ive said to join in please the more the better

No one has been excluded from this thread, seemingly or otherwise. As Ed has has just explained, we do contribute to the other threads but when posts are made and are blatantly ignored, by some, one is left asking oneself, what is the point.

I'm happy to help out on technical issues but given the age and fine engineering on the XF there is little I can really offer that others haven't already said.
I've set-up threads in the non technical areas and added my 2p worth on a few other threads along with a few DIY threads I set up. We're keeping well away from the "What have you done today" thread as it was made very clear we shouldn't disrupt it. We're just keeping out of harms way here until a suitable topic comes along we can help with or take part in. As I've gone to great lengths to stress, if you feel we shouldn't be here, please say and we will move on.
